One show that just seems to be gradually finding it's ground lately is the spin-off to Yeh Hai Mohobbatein, Yeh Hai Chahatein. The show might now be fetching big numbers but has been fairly decent overall. In an interview with Iwmbuzz, on the fact about the show taking some time to develop a connect, she said "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was the most loved show on TV. However, when a show goes off, the audience feels bad and they take time to move on. Hence, they are still connected to the show hence missing it. However, our show is also connecting with audiences. I had received many messages from fans on social media platforms. People who were liking show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, they have also started loving our show. And now according to the latest reports, to add in more drama quotient, the makers have roped in Melanie Pais who is famous for her portrayal in Jodhaa Akbar. She has worked in dozens of television serials so far including Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi, Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double, Tota Weds Maina, Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do amongst others.

After being almost non-existent in the Top 5 shows for an incredibly long time, Star Plus' spin-off show, Yeh Hai Chahatein made a surprise re-entry into the list a couple of weeks ago. The show has actually been on the average side of numbers game but the recent drama that is a constant has managed to see quite a rise where the show cracked it into Top 5.

To keep the momentum going, on Indian TV shows, there is always just one way to keep things going - drama with twists and turns. So, Yeh Hai Chahatein will also be enabling that in the upcoming episodes. As seen already, the current drama revolves around Mahima (Aishwarya Khare) being back in Preesha's (Sargun Kaur) life to take Saransh's custody. And being the docile girl that Preesha is, she feels it is her to right indeed. But Rudraksh (Abrar Qazi) is attached to Saransh and doesn't want to let him go.

So, to keep things going, Preesha and Saransh will set a trap wherein the former will get married to Yuvraj (Siddharth Shivpuri) and Rudraksh to Mahima in a fake setting to gain Saransh's custody. But things are never as it seems in the telly world where suddenly, Mahima's ex-boyfriend will be seen making an appearance. And that will be played by actor Shahbaz Abdulla Badi. Badi will be seen as Mahima's ex-boyfriend who will obviously bring in a lot of shocks and twists. His will be a cameo role. Stay tuned for further updates.

Indira Krishnan on quitting Yeh Hai Chahatein: I was made to feel like a prop on the show and it was demeaning for a seasoned actor like me

It’s often not the length of a role, but how impactful the character is that drives seasoned actors to take up a TV show, which often focuses on younger faces. Actress Indira Krishnan, who is best known as Kumudini in Krishnadasi, is well-versed with the ways of the television industry but continues to strive for opportunities that showcase her talent and versatility. And, that’s exactly what she was hoping to achieve with the show, Yeh Hai Chahatein (YHC), in which she played Vasudha, the female lead’s mother. But, unhappy with the way her track was shaping up, Indira has quit the show.
She says, “I was constantly in touch with the creative team and told them how unhappy I was with my track. It made no sense for me to drive all the way to Naigaon to be shown just standing or sitting in a corner. I did that for a couple of months, but it kept getting worse. Though I am the heroine’s mother, I have no involvement or interaction in the scenes. I was being underutilised. Initially, I shot for 18-22 days in a month. It was then reduced to 15 days and eventually, to five days in March. I was just being called for functions and celebrations. There was nothing left for me to do in the show. A lot of times, I was made to feel like a prop. In fact, I was told by the team ki ‘ Aaj aapke dialogues nahi hain’. It is demeaning for a seasoned actor like me. So, after much deliberation, I decided to quit the show and put in my papers yesterday.”

The actress adds, “Many of my co-actors, too, have expressed displeasure over their tracks, but they continue to work because it ensures a steady income, especially during COVID times. My friends in the industry and co-actors advised me against quitting the show because of the same reason. But I had to take this decision for my own sanity. I can’t interfere in the creative aspect of the show, but I can speak for myself as an artiste who is known to be a strong performer.”
Indira admits that it wasn’t easy to leave the show at a time when most actors are struggling to find work. “I value work and money, but I felt humiliated as an artiste. I understand that the storyline can’t always focus on you, especially when you are part of a daily soap. But I guess in YHC, there was never any track on me. It was more of a youth love story with cameos. I think I was wrongly cast,” she says, adding, “Another issue is that when you are working in a daily soap, even if you are shooting for just a week in a month, people assume that your dates are blocked. So, no one approaches you for another project. That’s another reason why I quit YHC. It was time for me to move on and look for something bigger. I would definitely like to associate with the same production house again for a better role.”

She now wants to take up strong and meaningful roles. She says, “This is a shoutout to all the producers to cast me in such roles. I have worked hard on myself and I want to do something bold and striking.”
