Sankashti Chaturthi or Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi falls on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the waning phase (dark half of lunar month) of the moon. It is also called Krishna Paksha. This year, Sankashti Chaturthi falls on December 6, 2017. The day which is considered highly auspicious among all Sankashti Chaturthi days is dedicated to Lord Ganesh. It is celebrated in every Lunar month or Hindu calendar month on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha. The one that falls on the Shukla Paksha is called Sankashti Chaturthi and the one that falls on Krishna Paksha is called Vinayak Chaturthi.

On Sankashti Chaturthi, devotees fast from sunrise to moonrise.
