During the pandemic-induced lockdown, we saw several classic TV shows being retelecast on channels. It not only got the TRPs soaring, but also induced a sense of nostalgia among audience, who would have enjoyed these serials back in the days. Joining that list now is two mega hit shows - Kolangal and Thendral. These two serials will be retelecast on one of the popular channels from this Monday in their afternoon prime time slots.

Retelecast:

Rajaraman S, Business Head of the channel, says, “Kolangal and Thendral have always been the all-time favourite of audiences across the state. With it being telecast on our channel, the fanfare will continue, undoubtedly. Viewers can gear up for a nostalgic ride in the coming weeks.”

Story:

First Tamil soap opera to cross 1000 episodes, Kolangal revolves around the life of Abhinaya (Devayani), a hardworking and ambitious woman who faces adversities in her life because of the people around her. Put through a hoard of challenges at every step, owing to the rivalry with her stepbrother Adhitya, Abhinaya struggles to make a place for herself in society. Entangled in a dark past, abusive relationships and business rivalry, how she handles her relationships and reaches great heights forms the rest of the plot.
The show, the title track of which has been composed by Imman, also stars Deepa Venkat, Abhishek, Thiruselvam, Ajay Kapoor and Poornima Indrajith in prominent roles.

The show starred Devayani, Deepa Venkat, V. Thiruselvam, Ajay Kapoor, Poornima Indrajith, While Mohan Sharma, Sathya Priya, Abishek Shankar, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Nalini, Vanitha Krishnachandran, Srividya Mohan, Manjari Vinodhini, Kuyili, Bombay Gnanam, Dwarakish Giri, Auditor Sridhar, Joker Thulasi, Bharathi, Neelima Rani, Devadharshini, Priyadarshini, Dhivyadharshini Supporting Roles & Co Stars. The show was later replaced by Thendral which was also produced by Vikatan Televistas.

Dudded/Remade/Adaptions:

The serial has been remade in Kannada language as Rangoli broadcast on Udaya TV and in Hindi language as Maayke Se Bandhi Dor broadcast on STAR Plus and as Alpona on Mohua Bangla. It is also dubbed in 2 languages; The Malayalam language dubbed version was Kolangal on Surya TV and the Telugu language version was Muthyala Muggu on Gemini TV
