Default TOP 10 Types of office 'politicians'

Politics in the office is something all working professionals go through. Badmouthing people behind their backs, ****ering one’s boss, gossiping, and spreading rumors about fellow employees are some of the most common things that come under “office politics.” However, this often results in people believing that merit is no more a perk and the workplace is no more trustworthy for their survival, growth, and professional fulfillment. Thus, it is very important to identify the office ‘politicians’. Here is a look at some of them.

The Whisperer

The Whisperer knows it all when it comes to office gossip. They can be often found spilling official secrets and even personal secrets while sipping coffee in the cafeteria. They are aware of everything happening around the office and know it before anyone else even has an idea!

The Credit Thief

This person will do whatever it takes to get ahead, even if that means taking credit for someone else's ideas and plans. To avoid being their target, speak up about your views and what you are working on in front of your co-workers.

The Climber

For this person, the only thing that matters is climbing the office ladder. It doesn’t matter what they need to do to get there, though backstabbing and flattering their seniors are their weapons of choice!

The Lobbyist

This person has a reputation for swaying opinions in his or her favor. They always have a set of people whom they are able to manipulate in order to win their vote. Thus, to make sure your views are heard, speak up when you disagree with the lobbyist's opinions.

The Controller

We all have those controllers and bullies in our workplace who love to control and boss around. They control how you do your job, and socialize and deliver. Instead of advising or teaching you something, they may do your task themselves and get your job done in their own way. They often have big egos.

The Donation Seeker

Such people are quite easy to spot. They are really good at seeking help and advice from others, without giving anything back to them. They will take but will never reciprocate. You may be helping them from time to time, but when comes the time to seek help from them, they are always “too busy.”
