• Raju Jeyamohan lifts the trophy and wins a prize money of Rs. 50 lakhs: Raju Jeyamohan triumphs in Bigg Boss Season 5. In a grand gala finale on Sunday night, Raju lifted the trophy, and walked away with a prize money of Rs. 50 lakhs. VJ Priyanka Deshpande became the first runner up of the season. Interestingly, Pavani Reddy was one of the three finalists of the season. Raju, who entered the BB house as the second contestant of the season, has succeeded in gaining enough vote bank to emerge as the winner. Our ETimes TV’s poll also suggested the same, with 57% of the respondents voting for Raju as the winner.
  
• Bigg Boss Tamil 5 Grand Finale Highlights: With his mimicry s****s, stand-up comedy, and funny one-liners, Raju was the most entertaining Bigg Boss Tamil contestant of the season. Despite the fact that he had been nominated for eviction more than five times, he managed to survive eviction every time. While he was inside the BB house, his fans compiled his comedy juncks and made them go viral on social media. Though he faced little criticism for not playing the tasks hard enough or never getting to be a captain at least once, Raju has won everybody's support both inside and outside the BB house. In the last task given to all the contestants to choose their favourite housemate, Raju has won the task with a clear mandate. Apart from Pavani accusing Raju of poking his nose into the Pavani-Abhinay relationship, he never got involved in any ugly spat. Raju-Priyanka is the audience’s most loved duo of the season. Though they entered the house without a strong bond, eventually their comical rapport turned out to be the most entertaining one.
  On the career front, sources reveal that Raju is roped in for a main role in actor Sivakarthikeyan’s movie ‘Don’. He is also well known for his role as ‘Kaththi’ in the daily soap Naam Iruvar Nammaku Iruvar.
  
• Ciby walks out with Rs.12 lakhs in cash; leaves housemates shocked: The week before the finale has begun with actor Sarathkumar entering the house and announcing the Rs. 3 Lakhs money task. Prize money was raised several times. Ciby chose to take the prize money and he walked out of the house. Earlier in the show, every housemate was seen discussing the money task. When Thamarai went near the briefcase, Niroop chased her away and asked her not to think of quitting easily. Even in this episode, the money in the briefcase was increased a couple of times. Amir, when every housemate was gathered in the garden area, announced that he was going to walk away with the money.
  
• Among the two wild card contestants who entered the Bigg Boss Tamil 5 house, Amir stepped into the finale, directly winning the ticket to the finale; Sanjeev got evicted and walked out. Earlier this week, every housemate was nominated for eviction and the "ticket to the finale" tasks were revealed. At the end of the ticket to the final tasks, Amir won and entered the finale directly. Though Priyanka and Thamaraiselvi had an ugly spat and a scuffle, they joined back in the previous episodes. In the latest episode, host Kamal Haasan questioned them both about the issue. They both said that the scuffle was a ‘heat of the moment" one. Though physical assault inside the bigg boss house is considered a serious violation, they both got along in the later episodes when Kamal warned and let them inside the house.
  
• Priyanka Deshpande and Thamaraiselvi get into an ugly fight: As the season is inching toward completion, rifts and competition between the housemates are intensifying. The second task for the ticket to the finale is announced in the upcoming episode. Housemates were seen protecting the eggs in their respective nests from the fellow contestants. Sanjeev, Amir, and Raaju are trying to break the eggs from other contestants’ nests. Pavani was seen walking off the competition. As the competition became more heated, Thamaraiselvi was seen pushing Priyanka forcefully. Now this fight, in the following teasers released, is seen getting into an ugly fight.
  
• Big Boss nominated all the housemates for eviction this weekend to ensure fair play, and he also announced that new immunity challenges would be given every day in the race to finale journey. And in tonight's (December 14) episode, Big Boss announces the first immunity challenge. Once the buzzer is on, housemates should scoot into the yellow bus as soon as possible, and one contestant should get down every time they hear a horn. Meanwhile, contestants would face many uncomfortable challenges, such as pouring rain, stinking gas, etc. The latest teaser of the upcoming episode shows Pavani, Thamarai, and many other contestants looking nauseated. Then there is an argument between Raaju and Thamaraiselvi. "Should I get off?" asks a frustrated Raaju, to which Thamaraiselvi, clearly annoyed, replies, "It's your choice whether to stay or get off the bus."
  
• Imman Annachi got eliminated. The actor took the elimination sportingly and was seen leaving the stage with a smile on his face. Later, Kamal shared Imman's eviction was a surprise for him. Replying to this, Imman said that it is one of his biggest achievements from the show. Along with Imman, Naveen and Amir were also in the bottom three. Soon after the announcement from host Kamal Haasan, Imman thanked the housemates and viewers for giving him a chance to be a part of the biggest reality show. He said that his dream was to complete 106 days in the house however, he is happy to complete more than 70 days with the housemates.
  
• Suruthi Periyasamy gets eliminated: It was Kamal's birthday on November 7. She was evicted on the 35th day. Earlier, 9 contestants were nominated for elimination. Kamal asked captain Varun to pour the milk in the bottles and based on the order of the names visible in the bottles, the contestants were saved. In that way, Ciby followed by Akshara Reddy, Pavani Reddy, Mathumitha, and Iykki Berry were saved for the day. Hence, Suruthi and Abhinay Vaddi were left in the danger zone. Finally, Kamal revealed that Suruthi is the one who will get evicted. Suruthi had the coin possessed by the Thamarai Selvi with her. But, she decided not to use it and go with the decision made by the audience. Hence, she gave the special coin to Mathumitha. November 8, (the next day) is her birthday. The housemates celebrated Suruthi's birthday. Bigg Boss announced Suruthi to walk out with the coin in her hand. After spending some emotional moments, Suruthi left the house. Kamal welcomed Suruthi on the stage and praised her performance. Then, Kamal gave Suruthi the opportunity to interact with the housemates. He asked her about the game plan of other housemates. The host also asked Suruthi to share her last messages to the housemates. Suruthi said that she wants to keep in touch with Pavani and Mathumitha after the show. Later, her journey video was shown to Suruthi. Kamal wished Suruthi for her birthday and she too wished him on his birthday. Kamal wished Suruthi for her better future and said that irrespective of what happened in the house, people will shower their love on her.
  
• Chinna Ponnu gets eliminated; She is evicted on the 28th day of the show. 9 contestants were nominated for elimination last week. At last, Abishek, Chinna Ponnu and Varun were left in the danger zone. Kamal said that he wanted to speak with them and that’s the reason, he made such an arrangement in the activity room. Kamal said that he wanted to see more participation from their sides. Bigg Boss announced that Chinna Ponnu can meet the housemates and then leave the house. Chinna Ponnu had some emotional moments with the housemates. Upon request from the housemates, she performed a song and left the house. Kamal Haasan welcomed Chinna Ponnu on stage. She spoke about missing her granddaughter in the recent past. She thanked the audience for letting her stay in the house until now. There have been times when Chinna Ponnu thought, whether she would get a chance to enter Bigg Boss Tamil. She is happy to be part of the show. Kamal showed the video of her journey in the house. Chinna Ponnu said that she, along with her hubby, is in plans to establish a centre and train the art to poor people without taking cost. Kamal wished her all the best for her plans. After having a detailed conversation, Chinna Ponnu left the show.
  
• Mathumitha becomes captain: Priyanka Deshpande read out the rules of the task ‘Ushar Aiya Usharu’, to select the captain. The contenders for the task were selected based on the 'Name game' task. Mathumitha and Priyanka won the task and hence they were selected as the contenders. In part 2 of the task for captaincy, the housemates had to throw the smiley balls in the net held by Priyanka and Mathumitha. Later, they had to collect those balls in their respective baskets. Mathumitha collected the maximum number of smiley balls and she became the captain of the house for the week. Mathumitha divided the teams for the household chores. Mathumitha suggested all the housemates should have food together at the same time in order to improve the bonding between everyone. 9 contestants, namely, Priyanka Deshpande, Pavani Reddy, Chinna Ponnu, Akshara Reddy, Suruthi, Isaivani, Abhinay Vaddi, Imman Annachi, Varun got nominated for eviction this week. Bigg Boss offered the coin owners Pavani, Isaivani and Varun to swap their nomination by naming some other contestants who escaped the nomination process. They refrained from using the special powers of the coin and stayed nominated.
• Abishek Raaja became the second contestant to be eliminated. He entered the house on day 1 of the show along with 17 other contestants and got evicted on the 21st day of the show. Contestants Abishek Raaja, Iykki Berry, Chinna Ponnu remained in the danger zone. Contestants like Pavani Reddy and others, who possess special coins, volunteered to share their coins and save him. But Abishek decided to accept the verdict given by the public in terms of votes. All the housemates kept requesting him to accept the coins and stay back. But Abhishek shared, he won't be able to play the game after knowing the public opinion. Later, Bigg Boss clarified that the coin can be used only when the housemates are given the opportunity to use it. On receiving better clarity from Bigg Boss, Abishek left the house. His co-participants had an emotional moment. Kamal Haasan welcomed Abishek on the stage. He asked Abishek whether he expected his exit so soon. Abishek replied that he thought he would be among the top 5 contestants. Kamal opined that Abishek has a good analytical sense and his judgment about others is good. He should use his analytical s****s to judge him. Later, Kamal showed Abishek’s journey video to him. Kamal advised that Abishek seems to be an angry young man. He suggested him to be 'afraid' of his own anger and control it rather.
  
• Imman Annachi was selected as the most entertaining contestant, they can participate in the captaincy contender task, Bigg Boss announced that the housemates can garland their favorite contender who will be the captain. Ciby was selected as the captain. Nominated contestants of the week - Abhishek Raaja, Pavani Reddy, Akshara Reddy, Chinna Ponnu, Priyanka Deshpande, Thamarai Selvi, Iykki Berry, Isaivani, and Abhinay Vaddi.

• On the occasion of Vijayadashami, special arrangements were made. Flowers, costumes, and all the other necessary items were sent to the housemates to decorate the house colorfully. As instructed by Bigg Boss, folk artist Thamarai Selvi (the captain of the house), trained the housemates for various performances. The housemates also gave their best performances and impressed the audience.

• Namitha Marimuthu walks out of the show: Bigg Boss said that Namitha Marimuthu has quit the show due to some unavoidable reasons. The housemates and the audience in the hall were shocked on hearing this announcement. Kamal said that Namitha Marimuthu narrated a touching story of her life’s history. The housemates alone didn’t give hearts to Namitha. Even the audience and he also were touched by the heart-rending story of Namitha and gave their hearts. Kamal added, “I was thinking that the representation of such a talented person from the transgender community was an important one. But, I learnt from Bigg Boss that she has quit the show due to unavoidable reasons. Namitha has broken all the barriers in her path and has succeeded in her life. I would like to wish her to continue to achieve similar successes in the future also”. Namitha made history by becoming the first transgender to feature as a contestant in the Bigg Boss Tamil show’s history. Namitha narrated the horrifying troubles faced by her and the members of the LGBTQ+ community during the ‘Oru Kadhai Sollatuma’ task. She urged everyone to change their mindset towards transgenders. The revelations made by her have definitely touched the souls of almost everyone who watched it.

House Bigg Boss Tamil 5:

• Here’s a look at the interesting features of the Bigg Boss Tamil 5’s house.
  
• Giant model of ‘5’ at the facade: The moment we enter the Bigg Boss Tamil 5 house, one can see a Giant model of number ‘5’ at the facade of the house. The bottom tip of the number 5 is at the ground level and the top portion is at the height of the first floor.
  
• Tree like structure: A grand green coloured tree-trunk like structure is erected close to the entrance door.
  
• Five elements: Glowing neon light-like set up is seen in different spots of the house. This indicates the Pancha Bhootas (five elements) of nature. This includes air, fire, nature, earth and space.
• Lounge area: The lounge area has large sofas arranged in the shape of a big hemisphere. This time, the contestants will have big comfortable sofas to relax.
• Mughal style paintings: The house has Mughal style paintings in different sizes at multiple places. Even the door of the confession room has paintings of royal motifs on it.
• Confession room: The confession room is lit in a much brighter manner in this edition. It has a comfortable sofa with the wing structure on one side and winged horse painting on the other side.
• Dining table: The contestants can have their dinner at the large circular shaped dining table with floral designed chairs.
• Kitchen area: The kitchen area is main and it is set up with a big arch-like setup. The cooking point has brown colored traditional cupboards to keep the groceries and rations.
• Bedrooms: The bedrooms of both the male and female contestants aren’t blocked by any glass type set up. The ceilings of the bedrooms are designed in such a way that the natural light penetrates through it abundantly. Hence, it would be brighter than before.
• Swimming pool turned into jail: The contestants would not be able to enjoy the luxury of the swimming pool in this season too. The jail has been moved into the swimming pool. The contestants who are subjected to punishment should enter the jail set up in the pool.

COVID impact:

• While the fourth season of the show was dealyed last year due to the COVID-19 situation and was conducted , the fifth season of the popular show is expected to begin by June. Reports are that show will begin after the Tamilnadu State Assembly elections and also that Kamal Haasan will return to host the show after taking part in the elections.
• It has a hard stop for Covid third wave and also Malayalam Bigg Boss 3 has to end as they are using sets.
