After many speculations and rumors, it is finally decided that Babul ka Aangan on Sony TV will go off air starting next month. The decision was taken following the constant decline in the shows TRPs.
"Yes, it is going off-air," confirms the producer of the show Ratna Sinha, "But I can't comment on why as it's the channel's decision." She added the shoots would wind up in a week’s time.
Aastha who plays the lead actress is confused with the sudden decision to pull the plug.
"Last week we were informed that we've got an extension of 6 months and yesterday we were told that the show is going off air. I really don't know what is happening," said the upset actress.
According to a source, the show had repeated changes in the story line but still couldn't fetch the channel desired TRPs.
"When Swayam (Raahil Azam) was introduced in the show, the track went on pretty well but after his exit, there has been a constant fall in the ratings. Raahil was supposed to make a comeback but he couldn't do so due to some date issues," says the source.
The show premiered at the start of 2008. Initially it did well as it was different from the rest of the saas bahu sagas that were currently on air. When Raahil Azam who played Swayam was introduced it helped push the TRPs once again. But soon thereafter he made an exit and the ratings began to fall once again.
The show has now been asked to wind up as early as possible and will be send a legal notice today. The last episode will be telecast on February 6.
