The original cast re-unites for the second part of the epic - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon would again play the four close friends, while Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Jason Lewis, Mario Cantone and Willie Garson would once again play their original characters.
The behind-the-scenes crew also remains the same as in the original movie. Michael Patrick King is once again the director, who has written the screenplay as well. John Melfi, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Darren Star are the co-producers, while Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener and Marcus Viscidi are the executive producers. The director of photography John Thomas, production designer Jeremy Conway, composer Aaron Zigman and costume designer Patricia Field, who worked in the original film, would once again be coming together for the sequel.
Principal photography for the sequel has begun in New York City, and the movie is slated for release at the next Memorial Day (May 31, 2009) weekend. Speaking about *** and the City 2, Parker says, 'It’s a great privilege to be spending time again with this beloved cast and crew and to be filming in New York City.'
*** and the City 1 was inspired by the HBO series by the same name, based on the writings of Candace Bushnell. It earned over $415 million worldwide. Now, we hope the sequel will have the same magic touch!
