Yash Raj films will make its TV debut in 2010 with five shows and that too in the prime time slot (8 to 10 pm) during the weekends.
The Chopras have entered into an exclusive agreement with Sony TV to producer fiction and non-fiction shows, which will go on air from January 1, 2010.
Manjit Singh,CEO of Channel said in the print, “We have shown a number of Yashraj movies over the years. So when they started looking at producing software for television, we wanted to partner with them in an exclusive agreement.”
The result is four serials and a reality show for starters. One is
Mahi Way, with which Sharon Prabhakar makes her debut on TV too. She plays the protagonist who works in a fashion magazine. Its her struggle in the industry. Then its
Rishta.com which has Jugal Hansraj and Suchitra Pillai, then the studio is also making an action adventure. It starts with an edge-of the seat chase sequence with the cops on the trail of a gangster. Later on there is Seven in which Shama Sikander and Rakesh Bapat plays an important role.
After the show its time for some reality bytes and so Karan Johar is back on tv with host with
Lift Karade, a reality show produced by Yashraj.Earleir it was known as
Mera Sabse Bada Fan Banega Mera Hero This show will feature 20 stars from Bollywood like
Amitabh Bachchan,Shahrukh Khan,Salman Khan,Hrithik Roshan,Akshay Kumar,Priyanka Chopra,Kajol and many more will feature in the course of the show.
Talking about the shows Manjit Singh CEO of Channel said in the print, “Yashraj wanted to something unique for television.They have strong film background and that can be reflected in their shows.This is just the beginning as Aditya Chopra will play a major role in creating these shows with his young directors.”
