West Bengal Commission of Women takes initiative to help and guide young artists

• The shocking deaths of four model-actresses in the city within two weeks have raised several questions.
  
• While police officials are still investigating the cases, the recent incidents have yet again highlighted the need for focusing on mental wellbeing.
  
• Many senior artists in Tollywood have spoken up about the profession which isn’t stable and how it might leave the artists, especially young ones disappointed. Experts have also expressed their concern about prioritising mental health and building a strong system to fight failure.

• The recent incidents have also prompted the West Bengal Commission of Women to initiate and help and guide young artists.
  
• Chairperson Leena Gangopadhyay has sent a letter to Artists’ Forum for a platform where the mental health experts, veteran artists, and aspirants can exchange their opinions.
  
• The veteran artists will help the newcomers and give an insight about career in showbiz while the mental health experts will help the young talents in case of any crisis. A letter has already been sent to the Artists’ Forum regarding this initiative. Senior artist Badshah Moitra is likely to be a part of this initiative and he will share his experience with the youngsters.
• Writer and producer Leena, who has introduced many young talents to the audience, is hopeful that such a platform might help the aspiring artists.

• In a shocking turn of events, actress Pallavi Dey was reportedly found hanging at her Garfa flat on May 15. Her live-in partner was later arrested based on a written complaint filed by Pallavi’s family.
  
• A young model named Bidisha De Majumder was also found hanging at Nagerbazar. The 21-year-old was reportedly depressed because of career and relationship issues, according to her family.
  
• Two days later, Bidisha’s friend Manjusha Neogi, a model and aspiring actress, was also found dead at her residence. Bidisha’s mom Basanti opened up on her daughter’s battle with depression and stress.
  
• On Sunday, 19-year-old Saraswati Das, a mehendi artist and aspirant model was also found hanging at her residence.
