Balaji Telefilms' show on Star Plus Tere Liye we hear, has been placed under the scanner!!
We believe that the channel and production house are having lot of creative differences, and this has been affecting the ratings of late.
Our source states, "The channel was never in favour of the huge drama that was played with the Ritesh-Taani track. However, the production house was adamant in going ahead with the track, and the result is before one and all!! The track garnered a negative response from viewers, and the ratings which were on a high saw a sudden fall. In addition to this, Ekta Kapoor was insisting on replacing Nikhil Arya. She had even short listed few popular names, of which one was Angad Hasija of Bidaai fame. But the channel saw to it that this replacement did not happen, as they were very happy with Nikhil Arya".
The latest we hear is that the channel has sent out an official warning to the production house to better their story line as well as ratings.
"Tere Liye has been given a time frame till the conclusion of IPL. The show might survive if it continues to appeal masses with its story telling. In other words, these coming months might be an acid test for the show in terms of its longevity", adds our source.
As a matter of fact, Ekta Kapoor is presently working on three new shows, which are on Imagine, Sony and COLORS, and the interesting point to be noted here is that none of them is for Star Plus.. This indeed conveys that relationships are once again getting strained between Ekta and Star Plus.
An actor of Tere Liye on terms of anonymity did confirm that the show has received an official warning from the channel.
However Harshad Chopra told us, "Its news to me. If at all it is true, it then gives us an opportunity to work harder so that our show does well".
We tried contacting Ekta Kapoor, but could not get thro' to her..
Guess it is time to pull up the socks and work hard!!
