Smriti Irani now on Sab in new family comedy show
Sab is set to launch a family comedy Maniben.com, which will have Smriti Irani as the main protagonist. This is the first time that Irani will be acting in a comedy show.
The show is being placed at 8 pm and will kick off on 8 June. It will air every Monday-Thursday, replacing Main Kab Saas Banoongi which went on air in September, last year.
Produced by Contiloe films, the show is an adaption of the famous Gujarati play with the same name, written by Imitiaz Patel.
"Having run successfully for eight months, the serial is approaching a logical ending. The last episode will be aired on 4 June," says Sab business head Anooj Kapoor.
The show features a middle class lady suddenly moving to Malabar Hill after marriage. The show focuses on how the protagonist (Irani) holds on to her values while living in a snobbish and superficial society environment.
The serial also stars Sudha Shivpuri, Manini De and Nitin Wakharia among others.
Sab runs horror (Bhootwala Serial) and gangster comedy (Gunwaale Dulhniya Le Jayenge) as part of its positioning as a linear comedy channel.
