D2R Ladder Items brought back a classic feature found at the beginning of the Diablo II game. It's the Ladder system which gives players a possibility to compete against each other via a more competitive way of playing the game's story with the characters they've created.
The Ladder system comes with many different variations and is now available for players to play again or even to play for the first time based on whether or not they played original Diablo II or not.
If you did play the original version before the remake, then you'll know a lot of the key features of this Ladder system. It's available in the Classic, Hardcore Classic, Expansion or Hardcore Expansion variants with each variant having different rules that govern how many lives players have and the content available.
"Each modes will be equipped with its own leaderboard where players compete to gain experience through strategic planning within a limited timeframe while having access to Ladder-specific content," Blizzard's announcement about the launch to the Ladder game within Diablo II: Resurrected said. "When this Ladder season is finished, the leaderboard rankings will reset by transferring characters into non-ladder play, offering players the chance to gain experience."
