Default Simple Paella (Spanish Recipes)


Prep Time: 30 minutes or less | Cook Time: 30 minutes - 1 hour | Serves: 5

Ingredients:



Sunflower Oil
2 chopped onions
4 rashers of chopped bacon
8oz long-grain rice
a pinch of saffron
6oz squid, cleaned and chopped
a chopped pimento
4 green chillies (optional)
salt and pepper
2 chicken breasts, chopped into chunks as you like
1 pint chicken stock
8oz cooked small prawns
chopped parsley

Step 1:






First off, put the saffron in a couple of tablespoons of hot water, this will release the flavor and color from the saffron.


Heat up your oil and fry the bacon and onion over a medium heat for a few minutes. This looks about right...

Add to this your saffron water, squid, chili and pimento and season with salt and pepper. Give it a good stir...

Then arrange the chicken on top of the rice and cover with the chicken stock...

Simmer this on a low heat until the rice is tender. Add more boiling water if the rice dries up during cooking. When the rice is done, add the prawns you cooked or purchased earlier and leave on the hob until everything is piping hot. Garnish with the parsley and you're ready to serve it up!
