Shreya's Superstars - Music Ka Maha Muqqabla

Shreya's Superstars: About the team

The princess of melody Shreya Ghoshal is the only woman fighting amongst the men-folk but she is ready to match the others with fierce determination. She has Abhas, Ujjaini, Aneek Dhar and new entrant Rehman Ali on her side and they are raring to prove their mettle in this battleground.

Meet the team members:

Shreya Ghoshal (Captain): Shreya Ghoshal was born on March 12, 1984 in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan. From the age of four Ghoshal accompanied her mother on the harmonium. Her parents enrolled her for formal training in Hindustani classical music in Kota with Maheshchandra Sharma.

Then she moved to Mumbai and trained under Kalyanji for 18 months and continued her classical music training with Mukta Bhide in Mumbai.

She caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Music Talent Hunt. In 2000, Sanjay offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his film Devdas, who was to be portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs in the film. Movie goers from across the world heard Shreya's voice pictured on Aishwarya Rai, and she quickly became one of the top female playback singers in Bollywood. This song earned her the Filmfare Award for best singer that year, as well as the R D Burman award, given to upcoming talents in music at the same award ceremony.

Abhas Joshi:
At the young age of 17, this 'voice of Rafi' boy from Jabalpur has many accomplishments to boast off. Aabhas, a lover of the golden oldies, dreams to lend his voice for songs composed by his brother who desires to become a music director.

Before being a part of Amul STAR Voice of India on Star Plus, he was also the winner of the SaReGaMaPa Lil Champs 2004. He was among the top 3 finalists on Star Voice of India. After being voted out once, he bounced back in the main contest through a wild card entry. Being the youngest of all the participants, Abhas was a clear favourite with the judges.

Aneek Dhar:
Aneek Dhar, the winner of Zee Bangla's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, was notoriously famous even before he decided to be a contestant in the national version of the show. Aneek also won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 as he was the clear favourite throughout the competition which was proved by his winning the competition by several lakh votes compared to Raja Hasan who came in 2nd place.

He also released his first solo album named "Khwahishein" which was a hit. He is currently singing for a Bengali film.

Ujjaini Mukherjee:
Ujjaini Mukherjee from Kolkata represented Himesh Reshammiya's Rock Gharana in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 and stood 7th in the competition. Later, she went on to win the singing reality show, Ek Mein Aur Ek Tu with Aishwarya Nigam.

She has also participated and represented the Champions team on one of Star Plus' reality show Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar.

Ujjaini has done playback singing for music maestros like Aadesh Shrivastava, Monty Sharma and Himesh Reshammaiya. Yet another ardent fan of the legend, Asha Bhosle, Ujjaini is trained in Classical Hindustani Music and Opera.

Rehman Ali:
The 27 years old Thumri and Gazal singer Rehman Ali from Jaipur never knew he would make it to singing Bollywood numbers one day. Music runs in his blood as he has taken up this art from his grandfather Ustad Banne Khan who is a singer himself. His father runs a jewellery shop which is the only source of income for the entire family.

Rehman is very passionate about singing and even the worst financial circumstances at home did not let him loose hope. He has given several stage performances and appeared in many auditions prior to this. He looks at MMM as a huge platform that can help fulfill all his dreams.
