Indian TV viewers have watched childless celebrity couples deal with children on Imagine TV's Pati Patni Aur Woh. Now they will get to see how men behave when they are forced to become homemakers when their wives decide to take time off from their traditional role in a new reality series that is slated to go into production for Star Plus later this month called Life Bina Wife.

The show is being produced by BBC Worldwide Entertainment and is a desi adaptation of a Canadian show ‘The Week The Women Went.’ The location according to sources is in Pune. Life Bina Wife will have a limited run and will be complete d in 16 episodes. Sources indicate that the show will be hosted by Mini Mathur and Cyrus Sahukar.

In the Canadian version, which has had a two season run, all the women in an ordinary Canadian town disappear for a week leaving the men and children to cope on their own. For most of the men, cooking a healthy meal for their kids, doing the dishes and finishing the laundry is something that is extremely foreign. Once their wives head out for a relaxing week-long break, the men find out just how hectic a woman's daily schedule really is.

A source points out that Life Bina Wife will have 10 real couples that is mainly commoners as participants. Celebrities will make special appearances as guests to meet them. And the wives, well they will be all having fun in a resort, while hubby dear finds out what it is to do all the household stuff, including baby-sitting without any help on hand.

All efforts to reach channel officials remained futile, with one of them saying that the show is in the pipeline without giving any details. We called an official from BBC who flatly refused to comment on this saying its not the right time. While Sahukar did not want to speak at all, Mini remained unavailable to comment.

Cyrus Sahukar Cyrus Sahukar was born in the military headquarters of MHOW, Indore. His father, Behram Sahukar, a Colonel, is a Parsi whereas his mother, Nimeran Sahukar, a writer, is a Punjabi, which gives him half Punjabi and half Parsi lineage. He grew up in Delhi and did his schooling from St Columbus. Cyrus started doing theatre in school and acted in various school plays from the age of 6. He has worked with major theatre personalities like Barry John, Stephen Marazzi. He also was a part of Kiran Bedi’s ‘Literacy Mission Program,’ where the school students would perform plays and educational skits for the inmates of Tihar Jail. By the age of 16, he was hosting a radio show called ‘Radio Rampage’ in Delhi. Around the same time he worked on the production and acted in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Starlight Express’ and ‘Graffiti Postcards from School,’ both plays directed by Roshan Abbas. At the age of 18 Cyrus won a famous VJ Hunt & went on to become one of the most loved VJs of the country known for his sharp humour and wit. He has also appeared in movies like Rang De Basanti, Delhi 6 and Aisha. Cyrus is the quintessential bachelor who has little or no idea about what it takes to run a home. He has no idea what it takes to keep a kitchen running, getting a child to stop crying, the s****s involved in negotiating a tantrum or staying up the night tending to a fever. This show will also be a journey of discovery for Cyrus as he finds that the role of a wife involves much more than putting food on the table. When he sees the men struggle at their tasks or the women share their concerns, his eyes will open to the reality of their lives as well.

She has lived the trials and emotions that a Mother has to go through when her child falls ill or her husband has a bad day at work, whilst having to make sure the kitchen is running and she is ready in time for a shoot. The audience will immediately identify with Mini, and her insights into the contestant activities will be valuable. Mini seamlessly blends into the tapestry of this community as she becomes the observer as well as the confidante.
