TOP 10 Popular Stars in TV but not on the big screen

We take a look at some TV stars who became very popular for their roles on the small screen but unfortunately did not achieve the same success on the big screen. Most of them have returned to TV, while fans await the return of the others who are yet to make a comeback.


Prerna aka Shweta Tiwari

Shweta is still remembered by her screen name Prerna of Kaautii Zindagii Kay. She made her film debut in the John Abraham and Bipasha Basu starrer Madhoshi. She played Bipasha’s friend in the movie but did not have much to do in it. She went on to star in Abra Ka Dabra which tanked at the box office and her work went unnoticed again. She had some hit movies in Bhojpuri cinema but unfortunately did not get the success that she deserved in Bollywood. We hope that Shweta’s next film Benny and Babloo proves to be a hit.

Anita Hassnandani

Anita who has been a part of successful TV shows including Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, Kavyanjali,Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi among others, made her film debut as one of the dancers in the song Ishq Bina from Taal with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She later worked in several Bollywood movies including Kucch To Hai, Yeh Dil, Krishna Cottage, Sillsilay, Koi Aap Sa and Just Married but none of them were successes. However she has had some hits down South. Anita is currently hosting Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo and her next film Benny and Babloo will be releasing soon.

Kinshuk Mahajan

Kinshuk made his TV debut with Kaajal and his character Dev became quite popular. He made his film debut with Delhi Heights but he did not have much scope to perform and the film too was a flop. It was his role as Ranvir in Bidaai that got him immense popularity. Kinshuk currently stars in Chaand Chhupa Badal Mein on STAR Plus.

Aamna Shariff

Popular model Aamna Shariff made her TV debut with Balaji’s Kahin To Hoga and was extremely popular as the protagonist Kashish. Her outfits on the show were a rage among youngsters. After the show ended she made her film debut with boyfriend Aftab Shivdasani starrer Aloo Chaat. Unfortunately the film tanked at the box office. She again starred opposite Aftab in Aao Wish Karei but this movie flopped too.

Shilpa Anand

Shilpa Anand who is a popular actress in South Indian films made her Bollywood debut with Iqraar By Chance opposite Amarjeet but the film went unnoticed. She later also starred in Sirf which was again a flop. She is best remembered for her role as Dr Riddhima in Dill Mill Gayye which is now being played by Jennifer Winget. She is currently playing Dr Shilpa in the same show.
