Default Commoner will not Win Bigg Boss Telugu as per Aggreement

Bigg Boss Telugu season 6 is all set to premiere on September 4 (Sunday). Unlike the previous seasons, the upcoming one will feature a commoner contestant yet again after nearly four seasons.

TV got Ganesh Sai aka Bigg Boss Ganesh, the first ever commoner contestant of the reality TV series in Telugu, talking about the same. He spoke about his life inside and outside the BB house, the celebrity-common man divide, expectations versus reality, his advice to the commoner contestant of this season and much more. Excerpts...radmore

People wanted it to be a genuine selection

I, too, was very curious about the commoner contestant, this time. People wanted it to be a genuine selection because my credibility can also be under question. I'm sure the team might have taken all the essential measures to keep the selection transparent and genuine.(Photo: Facebook)

I performed might have failed to create drama, fights and controversies

Honestly, no contestant could be as dumb and innocent as me now. I was just 21 when I was picked for Bigg Boss Telugu season 2. Everyone was older to me, moreover celebrities. Little did I ever imagine that I'd be selected for such a big reality show. My Radio Jockeying s****s kind of helped me crack the auditions but I had zero knowledge about the concept or bigger game in the house. I gave my best in the tasks but I couldn't create 'drama', and 'controversies' in the show, I did not fight with anyone, I didn't disrespect anyone. Hence, I might have failed to entertain but did not fail to perform. I believe I was successful in my own way.

Smear campaigns by Kaushal Army and others still have their effect

I did not get a penny from Bigg Boss. In fact, I had to spend on my costumes every week. Yes, the show gave me fame but the smear campaigns by Kaushal Army and others still have their effect. Not just me but some of my co-contestants are still trolled for no reason. None can deny this fact. Viewers tend to form an opinion over a contestant watching an hour or so episode. It doesn't change overnight. I'm still struggling to erase the tags 'Somaripothu Ganesh (lazy Ganesh)', 'Aadu Waste ra' (he's such a waste) tags over me. I just want to underline the fact that if I'm fit for nothing, I wouldn't have survived so many years as a RJ in a noted FM channel at all. Since we enter the house on a contract, we neither have a say in what is being projected outside nor can we complain about it later.(Photo: Facebook)

Celebrity v/s Common man divide is for real

The Celebrity v/s Common man divide is for real. Since I was very young with celebrities around me, I was too scared to make enemies there. I didn't want to fake anything and be nice to everyone. There are only two options available - either you question/humiliate someone or get along with everyone there. I chose the second option. So, they were nice to me, too, in the BB house. But still that gap would remain. You can never be what their celebrity friend could be to them. It's not as rosy and deep as it comes across on the screen. Fortunately, I could end up making some connections in the industry. They are helpful, I could manage to get some shows because of some of them. I'm forever grateful. But you can't expect them to back you up. (Photo: Facebook)

I'm a common man but somehow I can't compromise on my self-respect

By the time Bigg Boss ended, I expected some opportunities but the pandemic took over and I had to start from scratch now. As they say, every coin has two sides. As I'm thankful for every opportunity I got, I have faced many humiliations, too. Right from facing threats of ruining my career to being humiliated in front of the entire set of a special show for apparently overshadowing a celebrity, I've seen it all in this short period. Yes, I'm a common man but somehow I can't compromise on my self-respect. You can work without a penny but the least you expect is respect at the workplace. You treat anyone with respect and dignity. I'm a techie and I can always go back to my IT profession for work. But you can't invite someone for a show and humiliate them just because he is a common man.(Photo: Facebook)

I still haven't mastered the art of ****ering someone for work

My parents also feel a few people in the entertainment industry don't take me seriously just because I don't party around or believe in that 'maintenance' to command respect. I don't feel the need to do so either. I've a small little world which I'm happy with. I have very few friends in the industry also. I'm ready to work on my s****s and prove my talent but I still haven't mastered the art of ****ering someone for work.(Photo: Facebook)

Those affections may or may not last long

All I would tell the commoner contestant is to not believe anyone, rely upon anyone, form any relationships and also have any expectations over anyone. Every contestant needs to be selfish and safeguard their own interests. Those affections may or may not last long. Common man can never act. If he/she trusts someone, they give it all and expect the same. But this is a reality show and anyone who is aware of the same can survive the game.(Photo: Facebook)

Expecting Bigg Boss to change your life is a joke

Expecting Bigg Boss to change your life is a joke. All the fame is short-lived. You might get a film or show. Everything has an expiry date. We have to be ready to start from square one. And PR is a must today. Without PR, it is just going to be a day's picnic for anyone if they fail to grab the public's attention. And we must remember, at the end of the day, it is a reality show.(Photo: Facebook)

No comparisons please

Well, every contestant is unique and we must respect that. The show's format, dynamics inside and outside the house has changed a lot. There will be many reasons why a contestant performs or fails. I sincerely appeal to everyone to not compare the commoner contestant with me in any case. I've my own battles to fight. Sending out my love to all the contestants of Bigg Boss Telugu season 6.
