Topic 9: Personnel Area & Personnel Sub Area

A personnel area is a Personnel Administration specific unit and is the subunit of the company code. The individual personnel areas in a company code have four digit alphanumeric identifiers. The personnel areas within a client must be clear. <o:p></o:p>

Example: The following Personal Area's are under one company (Company Code)

The personnel area is used to generate default values for data entry, for example, an employee’s payroll area. <o:p></o:p>
The personnel area is a selection criterion for reporting. <o:p></o:p>
The personnel area constitutes an authorization check unit.<o:p></o:p>

Human Resource Management: Contains 4 types

1. Personal Areas
2. Personal Sub-Area
3. Employee Groups
4. Employee Sub-Groups

Click on Personal Area: You will see two Steps

1. Copy, Delete, Check Personnel Area
2. Personnel Area

This is also same as Company Code creation, you can copy from standard one or you can copy from your existing Personnel area if you created before.

Or you can create using New Entries Directly.

Personnel Sub Area

Personnel sub areas are a subdivision of the personnel area.

Personnel Sub area is defined by a four-character, alphanumeric code. The respective country-specific control features are stored here.

Example : If your Company Locations/Breaches are called Personnel Areas so the Departments of each breach called Personnel Sub-areas.

The main organizational functions of the personnel subarea are as follows:-

To specify the country grouping. Master data entry and the setting up and processing of wage types and pay scale groups in payroll depend on the country grouping. The grouping must be unique within a company code.
To assign a legal person which differentiates between companies in legal terms.
To set groupings for Time Management so that work schedules and substitution, absence and leave types can be set up for individual personnel subareas.
To generate a default pay scale type and area for an emplyee's basic pay.
To define a public holiday calendar.
To define subarea-specific wage types for each personnel area.

Personnel sub-areas are coming under Personnel area's

Mean before entering Personnel sub-areas we have to choose under which personnel Area we are going enter.

Here you have defined different departments in the co. as the personnel sub-areas. In other scenario say New York is the personnel area and under this Manhattan and Princeton are Pers. Sub Areas then how we will define various departments in these sub areas? I want to know what is the basic criteria to create Pers. Sub Areas. Thanks.

When Functional Consultant is preparing Blue Print checks all scenarios like Payroll, Time...and differentiate Personnel Area, Sub area or even Employee Group, Sub groups based on requirment no need always that Location like New York must be Personnel Area.

The basic Funda is like Location 1's Holiday Calendar is diffeent from Loaction 2 so you can create 2 personnal Areas..

Same for Payroll Componates are diffrent from locatin base you can create 2 PA.

If Department wise diffrentation is there so you can create Personnel sub area wire..

All based on requirement.

Like If you want New York should be Personnel Area and Manhattan Subarea.

and still wanted to diffrentiate Departmant or EE level wise you can do at Payroll level - Paysclae type, Paysclae Area, Pay scale Group & Pay scale Level. (Will cover in future)

Personal Area and Sub Area

Hi,

As we discussed under Company we have Personal Area and Under Personal Area we have Sub Areas. It is very clear that we assign Company code to Company in the same way we assign Parsonal Area to Company.

I hv one doubt...

Can we create a Company (let XYZ) and given the address of US
And its Personal Areas are in US, JAPAN and INDIA.
And in US, and India there are sub areas like for US(DALLAS), INDIA(DELHI, PUNE) etc.
In this type of scenario..what to do??
As it is always based on currency. If we create a comp and given the address of US and USD as currency then we wont b able to crate its personal Area in India as its currency differs. we can't assign the same as well.

Is it possible to make it happen. Please clarify.

Each county should have one compnay code, read company name is a legal entity means maintains GL, Balance sheet ....with a single Currency
