Sreemoyee


  • This show was a trend-setter in many ways. According to the story, protagonist Sreemoyee, who decided to say enough is enough after years of unhappy married life, establishes herself as a strong and independent woman, finds love, and marries her senior from college; simply stole the hearts of the Bengali audience. Indrani Halder essayed the titular role in Sreemoyee, Tota Roy Choudhury essayed Rohit Sen, Sudip Mukherjee played protagonist Sreemoyee’s hubby. Indrani brought life to the character. The courage of Sreemoyee, who decides to start afresh standing on the wrong side of 40s, managed to connect with the audience; especially the female viewers. Sarbojaya


  • The comeback show of National award-winning actress Debashree Roy is worth a mention in this category. The TV storyline portrayed the life of middle-aged Sarbojaya, who always prioritised others before her. Life takes a drastic change following which housewife Sarbojaya, who dedicated her entire life to her husband and family finally, learns to live on her own and be happy. Aay Tobe Sohochori


  • The TV show not only features middle-aged Sohochori Sengupta as the lead, but also her friendship with a much younger girl who later becomes her bahurani. The TV show portrays the struggle of Sohochori, who dedicated her life to hubby and in-laws, but left empty-handed. Standing on the wrong side of her 40s, she follows her dream, enrolls herself in a college, and pursues education.   • Lokkhi Kakima is indeed a superstar. She can run a household, handle all the family issues, manage the grocery store and continue her journey with never say never attitude. Housewife Lokkhi simply stole the limelight. Veteran actress Aparajita Adhya as Lokkhi Kakima is every bit convincing. The actress yet again proved her acting mettle with a power-packed performance.   • Both 'Seema Rekha' and 'Goyenda Ginni' featured Indrani Halder in the titular roles. The story of ‘Goyenda Ginni’ was about a housewife who can solve a case with equal elan just like she handles her household. It was hugely popular among the viewers. 'Seema Rekha', on the other hand, was about two middle-aged sisters who were poles apart. Although ‘Seema Rekha’ also had Diya Chakraborty and Abhishek Bose and later progressed with their stories, Indrani didn’t let anyone take their eyes off her till she appeared on the show.   • The show enjoyed huge popularity the way protagonist Parameshwar’s struggle was portrayed in the story. Parameshwari, who had crossed the ‘age’ defined by society, gets married to a divorced man with a daughter. She manages to survive among her in-laws who weren’t welcoming toward her, raised her voice against domestic abuse, and established herself as a singer defying the ‘age parameters’ set by society.
