- Nissan Motor Company Ltd has unveiled the Nissan Note, a new global compact car at a world premiere.

- The Note's exterior features a line, called the 'Squash Line', something which Nissan says that gives it an aerodynamic stance.

- Powering the 2012 Note will be a new 3-cylinder direct injection supercharged HR12DDR engine which lays high claims of 25.2kmpl courtesy the Japanese driving cycle tests.

- An expansive and inviting cabin includes a flowing line above the instrument panel, which inspired by ripples in sand, helps express the Note's practicality and modernity as well as contributing to its high-quality interior.

- The revamped body structure enabled the Note's designers to deliver a spacious interior that is beyond expectations for a car in this class.

- The company is fitting the Around View Monitor system, which is the first time that its been used in a compact car. Derived from the much expensive Infiniti range of models, the system helps the driver with reversing and parallel parking.

- Two new engines will be available to customers in Japan, including the new supercharged HR12DDR (DIG-S) and the HR12DE, which has received acclaim in the Nissan March.

- It is claimed to offer spirited dynamic performance, strong fuel economy and low emissions.

- Its distinctive front grille, headlamps and rear combination lamps combine to create a sense of dynamism and sophistication.

- All the variants will be available with an Xtronic CVT transmission. The car will go on sale in Japan in early September.

- The Note will be manufactured in Nissan's European plant in Sunderland and will be on sale in Europe next year.
