Barun Sobti (Hindi: बरुन सोबती) (born 21 August 1984) is an Indian television actor and model whose career was launched from the STAR Plus television series Shraddha. Sobti is recognized for playing the lead male character, Shravan Jaiswal, in the Sony TV's serial Baat Hamari Pakki Hai. He is presently playing the role of Arnav Singh Raizada in STAR Plus romantic drama television series Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon which is currently one of the top dramas in Indian Television. born into a Punjabi Sikh family from New Delhi. He married his childhood friend, Pashmeen Manchanda, who is not a part of the entertainment industry, on 12 December 2010 in a Gurudwara.


Career

Before entering the industry, Barun Sobti has worked in Jindal Intellicom in Delhi. In his first major role on television he appeared opposite Neha Janpandit^[1] as the male lead Swayam Khurana, in the family and faith oriented daily soap Shraddha broadcast on STAR Plus,^[2] which was pulled off air abruptly.^[3] He was also approached to play the male lead in Balaji Telefilms show Keshav Pandit.^[4]


He then essayed the character of Dr Yuvraj Singh (Raj) in popular youth show Dill Mill Gayye, though left as he bagged a lead role in the serial Baat Hamari Pakki Hai.^[5]


He has worked in Baat Hamari Pakki Hai till late February which used to air on Sony TV, for which he has gained recognition and popularity.^[6] To promote the show, lead pair Barun and Ankita Sharma appeared in Sony TV's dance based reality show Boogie Woogie! on the 29th May 2010,^[7] and later the Indian Idol 5 Grand Finale on the 15th August 2010.^[8]
After Baat Hamari Pakki hai wrapped up, he took up the role of the male lead, Arnav Singh Raizada, in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, one of the most viewed and top-rated shows on Indian television, as an arrogant business tycoon who does not believe in love along with Co-Star Sanaya Irani which brought him tremendous stardom taking him to the height of his career. He has become one of the top actors of silver screen. In March 2012, Barun Sobti gave his first interview to his European fans on BBC with Noreen Khan.

Personal Life:
Barun Sobti was born into a Punjabi family. He is from Delhi and completed his schooling and graduation there. Barun can speak English, Hindi and Punjabi. The actor got married to his childhood sweetheart on 12th December 2010, only getting one day off from shooting Baat Hamari Pakki Hai. A very low profile marriage, in the presence of a few close friends and relatives, it was a simple ritualistic ceremony held at a Gurudwara.
When not working Barun likes to spend time with family, enjoys partying with friends, watching the Discovery Channel, sports, reality (Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, Roadies, Bigg Boss) and comedy shows (Khichdi, Instant Khichdi), with his favourite TV channel being Sony. He has admitted that he would love to be a part of reality shows Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao and Fear Factor, and the funniest movies he's ever seen are Andaz Apna Apna and Don't Mess With The Zohan.
Currently not active on any social networking sites, as of October 2010, he requested fans to avoid fake profiles, while promising that there will be an official presence soon.

Early Career:

Dev, the hero of our story, lives in Ujjain. A handsome young man, he is nice, caring and tough from within. He respects elders like his own parents and has seen a lot of tough times and undergone incredible trauma since the age of 5. As a child, he lived in a small village in Madhya Pradesh with his parents. When he was only 5, there was a flood in his village which wiped the village clean. When he regained his senses, he found himself in a relief camp where he was burning up in high fever. He told about his parents to the Govt. authorities but no one around had a clue. After a few days, he was left at an orphanage from where he was later adopted by a Christian couple who could not conceive. All three now live quite happily and contentedly in Ujjain. The Christian couple have accepted him as his own but never compelled him to adopt Christianity as they knew that he is a Hindu child. A lot of times, he wakes up with a start from his sleep when the same incident plays itself as a terrible nightmare. Even today, he remembers and wants to meet his long lost parents and siblings. He has finished his studies and now works in a big company as a sales marketing executive for which he is required to travel quite a bit. When he is on an official trip to Dwarka, he saves the life of a blind lady. It later turns out that the lady is Laxmi Jaiswal, Shraddha’s mother. This is how he meets Shraddha and becomes friends with her. He admires Shraddha deep love and respect for her parents and eventually falls in love with her.
