Tata Motors also showcased the military-spec Storme Armoured along with a range of combat vehicles at the DEFEXPO India 2012.
Tata Motors in its endeavor to enhance the scope of its defense business offers an extensive portfolio of combat vehicles, troop carriers, tactical vehicles, logistics vehicles and equipment. At the DEFEXPO India 2012 that concluded recently, Tata Motors showcased a range of new concepts of defense vehicles including, the new Tata Safari Storme GS 800 and the Tata Safari Storme Armoured.
The Tata Safari Storme GS 800 4WD in its olive green cladding is being seen as a high mobility platform that will be used for transporting officers during peacetime, as well as during conflicts, across locations in India. The GS 800 was designed and developed by the Indian automaker in-house and in-line with the requirement of the Defence forces.
The Tata Safari Storme Armoured, on the other hand is being seen as a very safe vehicle that is equipped with the state-of-art-technology for catering to the VVIP movement in the forces. The Storme Armoured dons a strengthened chassis and suspension system and enhanced braking to tackle the additional armored weight.
Tata Motors also showcased a new Micro Bullet Proof Vehicle (MBPV) at the DEFEXPO 2012, which is a highly combat vehicle that will be used for indoor combat inside airports, railway stations and other such infrastructure. The concept is the first of its kind design to assist the country's elite force in indoor combat.
Besides, the company also launched four other defense vehicles - the Tata 12X12 Prahaar Missile Carrier, the Tata Light Armoured Vehicle, the Tata Mobile Bunker and the Tata 6X6 7kI Refueler and also displayed a range of other concept vehicles, such as the Tata Quick Deployment Mobile Communication Terminal.
