New Delhi: National Award winning actress Vidya Balan did it once again, she bagged the Best Actress award at the 13th IIFA awards in Singapore for her role of Silk Smita in The Dirty Picture.
The IIFA Awards 2012 this year was held in the beautiful city of Singapore. The list of winners has just been announced and as expected, Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan have once again won the Best Actor and Best Actress award respectively. The Best movie and director too have been predictable this year, as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which swept the IIFA 2012 technical awards, has won in both categories.Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri have been voted as the Hottest Pair in Bollywood. It’s time for the International IndianFilmAcademyAwards, also known as the IIFAAwards. They are presented annually by the International Indian Film Academy to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood, the Hindi language film industry. It started its journey way back in 2000 and it is known for having it organized in different countries around the world every year. So is it in competition with the Oscars for its International approach? Well we can talk about it may be in our future posts. This post is all about this year’s Awards. This year they will be revisiting the Lion’s City, also known as Singapore.
The first awards were presented in 2000 at The Millennium Dome in London, United Kingdom. IIFA happens to be the largest media event in India with a viewership of almost 700 million, ranking it among the world’s most watched annual events. So what is special at this year’s IIFA awards? Well you don’t have to think much, iDubba has the answers.
- This year, TheDirtyPicture and ZindagiNaMilegiDobara have been nominated in many categories. Another strong contender is Rockstar with RanbirKapoor being a strong favourite as best actor
- Film to be showcased at IIFA this year:Shanghai (world premiere), directed by Dibakar Banerjee and starring Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi and Kalki Koechlin
- The IIFA Awards 2012 ceremony will be held on June 9 and Shahid Kapoor will host the awards for the first time, along with Farhan Akhtar
- The technical awards, which have already been announced and ZindagiNaMilegiDobara has won top honours at the IIFA Technical Awards, along with Shahrukh Khan’s RA.One
- Salman Khan returns to IIFA Awards after two years
- Performers include ShahidKapoor, RanbirKapoor, PriyankaChopra, SonakshiSinha and BipashaBasu
- Actor Rekha will be honoured with the Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema award and Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy will be awarded the Outstanding Contribution to
Indian Cinema honour. And to add to that Veteran actor-dancer Zohra Segal, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, will receive the Contribution to 100 years of Indian Cinema award

The International Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as the IIFA Awards are presented annually by the International Indian Film Academy to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood, the Hindi language film industry. Instituted in 2000, the ceremony is held in different countries around the world every year. This award ceremony has been organised by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd – one of India’s premier event management and entertainment agencies - since its inception.

It was a night full of glamour as Bollywood stars, fashionistas and a host of musicians geared up for the fashion cum music event, IIFA Rocks. The hosts for the evening Ayushmann Khurrana and Chitrangada Singh entertained the audience with their humour and enacted dance moves.
Host Ayushmann and actor Ranbir Kapoor try out some of the Rishi Kapoor's dance moves on stage. For the first time, the father-son duo Rishi and Ranbir Kapoor will perform at the IIFA awards tonight.

Housefull 2 cast in full attendance at IIFA voting weekend 2012 for 13th IIFA Awards
The first day of the IIFA Voting Weekend saw several members of the Indian Film Fraternity come forward to cast their vote for IIFA Awards 2012. Amongst the many that came in were Dia Mirza, Arbaaz Khan, J P Dutta, Ramesh Sippy, Parineeti Chopra, Vidyut Jamwal, Arjan Bajwa and the cast of Housefull 2.
The cast of Housefull 2 - The Dirty Dozen showed up to vote for the 13th IIFA Awards, with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, Asin, Shazahn Padamsee and Zarine Khan addressing the press today. The film is the second super star packed installment in the Housefull franchise. Director, Sajid Khan voted alongside the cast.
Every year, Academy members and the Film Industry are invited to cast their votes and shortlist nominations in the category of the Popular Awards. The Technical Award winners and the Popular Award nominations are derived from the voting weekend.
The IIFA Voting process is a stringent and methodical procedure that is closely monitored by PriceWaterHouse Coopers (PwC), the official auditors for the event. The popular category nominations will then be available for the global audience to participate in the voting process. The final winners of the IIFA Awards will be revealed on the night of the Awards ceremony when the envelope is opened onstage, in front of the live audience.
