Bigg Boss returned with its season 5 on the small screen once again to entertain its viewers and give a sneak peak in the life of some of the celebrities (Some are mere controversial figures). The show will be hosted by longtime best buddies of Bollywood : Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. The show is known to grab eyeballs of Indian viewers and is one of the few reality shows that took off from the start.

The show has successfully completed four seasons and this season that is the fifth season seems to be getting even bigger at the outset that this will be first reality show on Indian Television that will be hosted by two big stars of the mainstream cinema.

Every time the show management tries to rope in some of the known, controversial and uncontroversial figures from all sections of society. If season 4 had participants such as Bunty Chor and Seema Parihar, then season 5 has also some of the controversial figures such as Nihita Biswas (Charles Sobhraj's Wife) and Shradha Sharma (Raja Choudhary's Ex-Girlfriend) to uncontroversial celebrities such as Mahek Chahal (Nayee Padosan Girl) and Sonika Kaliraman (Wrestler).
Foreign celebrities are also brought in, which every time creates controversies in one way or the other. Like the inclusion of Pakistani celebrities is always questioned and in the fourth season inclusion of Pamela Anderson as a guest housemate was further marred with controversies that she use to actually live in the nearby posh hotels instead of living in the house all the time. All in all the show gets the eyeballs because of these very figures and the controversies surrounding them

Also, while watching the show from the start gives a feeling of how they live and cope with different situations and problems that arise. The true nature of the participants comes to the fore and viewers watching vote on the basis of these very factors.

Concept
The concept of the show is simple yet challenging. The show picks 14 participants (another one by wildcard entry) are put in a locked room with the cameras on in every section of the house and keeping an eye on every participant. Each week a participant is eliminated by public voting. There is always a wild card entry in which a new housemate is introduced in between the first or the second month. They are also required to do all the chores and the task given by Bigg Boss all by themselves. Cooking food, washing their own clothes and other household and self-sufficient work has to be done by the contestant. No television is allowed nor they are allowed to use their cell phone and they not even can wear a watch.
The show requires housemates to comply by the rules mandated by Bigg Boss. Rules such as waking up at 8 a.m is compulsory for every participant. An alarm in the morning wakes the contestants. Breaking the rules attracts punishments from Bigg Boss such as washing clothes of every participant etc. Whereas successfully completing a task attracts praises and possible gifts and other accolades for the person or group performing the task.

Housemates at the start of a week elect a captain by the process of close-room voting. The person getting the highest number of votes is declared the captain and is shielded from elimination in that week along with some other facilities.

Year on year the Bigg Boss house which was located in Lonavala had been renovated every season and some or the other changes are introduced. Like the season 4 had the delights room where the captain of the week is only allowed to use and rest all sleep in the common room. From this season a complete new house from scratch is being built in Karjat. This season will also bring some shocking surprises.

Show Schedule
The show starts from October 2, 2011 till January 7, 2012. The show will premiere on Colors TV as usual and the premiere will be shown from 8 PM.

Saturday - Sunday - 10.00 PM

If you missed the show for some reasons you can always watch the repeat telecast which will be shown on Colors every day on 9.30 AM or 12 PM except for Saturdays and Sundays.

Voting Details
The nomination will take place on every Monday and the voting lines will be on from every Monday from 22.30 hours until Friday 23.59 hours. Every participant has a three letter sms code which can be sent to 56882 to save from elimination. Voting details are listed in the below table for each contestant.


What's New in Bigg Boss 5

1. Unlike other seasons which had equal number of male and female celebs this season will feature as much as 12 females, 1 eunuch and 1 Male (That is Shakti Kapoor).
2. Unlike other seasons it will be hosted by two host : Salman and Sanjay.
3. This season will also have a brand new house which is located in Karjat.
4. Expect some catfights among the contestants as the majority among them are women.
5. Most likely this season will also have a woman winning the show.

The promising actress who got her first break in Bollywood with a relatively mid-budget film Nayee Padosan will be one of the many ladies who will enter the house.
To her credit she has some good mainstream Hindi films like the more recent one being the Salman Khan staring Wanted and Main aur Mrs. Khanna. She has also done item songs, advertisements apart from modelling with which she started her career.
After making a splash in the initial years of her career she couldn't capitalize the momentum and just faltered in between until Salman Khan thought to re-launch her. Apparently Mahek got acquainted with Salman on a musical tour. According to news reports, the inclusion of Mahek is being credited to Salman Khan.

Raageshwari's life has seen many ups and downs from becoming the topmost pop sensation in early 2000's to getting diagnosed with Bell's palsy or more commonly known as facial paralysis. This show has given her a sort of second chance launch her career.
She is going inside with a clean image and I wish that she comes out with a clean image. But as the house in all the previous seasons has turned some of the people with the cleanest image to the baddest. Will have to wait and watch.
All in all she is one who has not been doing the TV circuits for quite some time now, and seeing her will be something new for Indian viewers, also she is an excellent singer, So............Drumrolls........Music.....And.....I s Haath Le Uss De De.

The daughter of actor Kabir Bedi couldn't make big in Bollywood and she has been in the news time and again not for her films but for various other reasons such as the Kama Sutra condom's advertisement and for her safe-sex campaign in the 1990s.
Still, largely her life has been free from controversies.

The another Pooja who will entered the house, the other one being Pooja Bedi. She is known for her aggressive nature. The house will be a big test for her to be in control and take control of the situation rather than to get aggressive.
Of course it will be seen as to how she keeps her cool which obviously also depends on other contestants behavior as well.
Recently she was in the news because she filed a complaint against Eesha Kopikar and her husband alleging stalking.

Another contestant with a clean image entering the house is Juhi Parmar. She has acted in many TV serials and has also participated in some reality shows. She is yet to win any reality show and in this show she will be definitely do anything to win the title and the money.
She played the lead role in the Star TV serial Kumkum which was one of the longest running TV shows in India (3^rd Longest running serial). As a fact it completed 1450 episodes and the show run for more than 7 years. Not seven years this time but only a little more than 3 months will give her more money and fame than her soaps.

She does shows all over the globe showcasing her excellent folk dance which attracts large number of viewers.
If most of the contestants are one way or the other linked to the mainstream entertainment world, her inclusion reiterates the shows concept to bring contestants from all walks of life.
Yes she is definitely great in her genre but hasn't got much media attention as some of the other have got. Becoming a party to such a show will definitely bring her to the limelight (at least for some time) which may be helpful for her in the future.

The veteran actor is the only male who will be entering the house in the start with 12 other females and 1 eunuch. Shakti Kapoor has played varied roles and is regarded as one of the most seasoned actors in the film industry.
Playing comedy roles such as Nandu: Sabka Bandhu in Raja Babu to gray roles such as Tejeshwar in Aakhen to utterly funny and trademark role of Crime Master Goga in Andaz Apna Apna.

Amar's acting career has seen its own highs and lows. Some of the highlights of his career are serials like Dekh Bhai Dekh (debut serial) and the highly famous role of Mihir Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. And apart from TV he couldn't make big in mainstream Bollywood movies.

Definitely the most surprised entry of the lot is of Siddharth. The producers of the show might have thought the inclusion of the good looking, young male contestant would ruffle some feathers of the male contestant and on the contrary with so many female contestant he would play the role of charming ladies with his style.
One other possible angle of introducing him might be the relationship of his with Sakshi Pradhan (who took part in BB Season 4) and the controversies surrounding the relationship and the couple's alleged love-making clip.

The father-son duo in the house. Yes I am talking of Amar Upadhyay and Akashdeep. Of course not in real life but at least in the reel life. Akash played the role of a Amar's son in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Strange considering Akash is actually a year and half elder than Amar.
Akashdeep came in the forefront from Kyunki...and managed to portray the image of a bad boy. It is just that the reason for his entry in the house. He has also participated in other reality shows such as Jhalak dikla Jaa Season 1 and Iss jungle se mujhe bachao.

Host & Dost - Chulbul Pandey and Munna Bhai

After successfully hosting the last season Salman Khan will come back and host the show jointly with Sanjay Dutt. And Sanju baba is debuting with this show on TV.
This season, in my opinion will be extremely funny and balanced, as the last season was a bit over the top and some senseless comedy by Salman. Sanjay Dutt will keep it sober just like AB did in Season 3.
