Ashish Sharma was declared winner of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' season 7.

Mumbai: The wait is finally over! After weeks of breathtaking performances to the not-so impressive ones, ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ season 7 finally has a winner, and it is none other than Ashish Sharma.

Though he was not a trained dancer, he made ample effort to qualify for the finals with choreographer Shampa. The duo earned a lot of appreciation from the judges and viewers. The fan following of Ashish (popular for his role in ‘Rangrasiya’) just got bigger!

Ashish made it to the finals where he competed with Shakti Mohan, Mouni Roy, and Karan Tacker. For the finale, each contestant incorporated four elements in their routine. Shakti Mohan and her choreographer Tushar Kalia impressed judges with some hair-raising flips and turns.

Karan Tackker, who has faced some ups and downs in this journey, saved his best performance for the last. The star and his choreographer went on to perform a spectacular dance routine in the rain. Mouni Roy with her choreographer set the stage on fire (quite literally) with her performance.

The finale also showcased special performances by comedian Bharti Singh, and Sophie Choudry and Anil Kapoor. Anil worked his charm on the contestants and joined them on stage to sing and dance to an entire song.

'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7' finale: Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit woo audience with their dance performance

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is an Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

Sony Entertainment Television brings "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" with new celebrities and well known faces to perform with professional dance partners on a highly competitive stage. The show is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions in India.

The show's format is taken from the Strictly Come Dancing show on BBC One in UK, which has been a huge success in over 30 countries like America, Australia, New Zealand, and Italy where it is known as Dancing with the Stars. However the Indian version has been extensively remodelled as to appeal to the country's viewers.

The dances are typically more exuberant than on its sister programmes around the world, owing to India's unique Bollywood traditions. Also because of the strong Bollywood approach, India is the only country to not have live music with an in-house Big Band. The show is also pre-recorded unlike the UK's Strictly Come Dancing and other spin-offs. All the ballroom and latin dances are danced as bollywood themed showdances (US: freestyles) rather than with strict 'syllabus' ballroom or latin technique.
