SRK's damage control
They may have lost the chance to show off their cheerleading s****s at the IPL, but Shah Rukh Khan made sure his ‘Angels’ had nothing to complain about while they were waiting around in South Africa.
 ANANYA Bera, Sanna Chirawawala, Sunanda Hiroo, Rupali Kantharia, Ritika Chibber and Samyukta Surendar won the reality show Knights And Angels, which was supposed to select six cheerleaders who’d be on the cricket field cheering for SRK’s Kolkata Knight Riders in SA. They are now said to have gone on a “ten-day holiday”- not exactly what viewers of the reality, and presumably the girls too, were led to believe.

After Star Box Office broke the news that Shah Rukh’s cheerleaders weren’t even allowed to cheer once at the matches because audiences wanted only South African cheerleaders on field, a statement was released by SRK’s production house, saying, “The group was taken on the holiday as part of the team. The experience was nothing short of outstanding for them as they got to perform during the cricket carnival road show as well as ride around Cape Town in an open-top bus along with the players.”
The damage-control press release adds, “Along with that, the girls watched the matches from the VIP box with none other than King Khan and his family. And, once that was over, the lovely ladies even had to the time to go shopping!”

Cheerleader Ritika is quoted saying, “We were so excited to get an opportunity to go to South Africa. We got to hang out with the players and even Shah Rukh Khan!” She added, “We were put up in apartments just opposite the hotel where Shah Rukh stayed.”
Another idle winner of Knights And Angels, Ananya, says that the girls have been promised a cheerleading contract next year when the IPL is held in India. She said, “This trip made us forget all the despair we had. Shah Rukh has told us that we will be the cheerleaders for KR when the IPL is held next year in India.” As for Red Chillies Idiot Box creative head Pranjal Khandhdiya, he said, “The six winners of Knight and Angels had a great experience in South Africa and they are looking forward to the next season too.” Let’s hope they’re looking forward to some actual cheerleading and not just shopping next time around.
