US warns its citizens against visiting India

Washington, June 04: Amidst reports suggesting that the Lashkar-e-Toiba is planning another terror attack on India, the US government on Thursday issued a travel advisory cautioning its citizens planning to visit India.

According to latest news report, the US administration, based on the general threat perception and the law and order situation in various states, has not specifically asked its citizens to avoid travelling to India but advised them to be more vigilant.

The development, importantly, comes in wake of reports of intelligence inputs obtained by the US and Indian intelligence agencies which suggests the possibility of more deadly 26/11 strikes in the days to come.

The inputs gathered by various agencies have suggested that terrorist outfits such as the Lashkar-e-Toiba are planning to launch more severe strikes apparently targeting the right-wing leaders and vulnerable southern states.

LeT is believed to have worked on an intensive and leak-proof plan in the past several months to execute its plan, which intends to compel the Indian government to take military action against Pakistan.

If the terrorist outfits succeed in their nefarious design it would be major setback for the the Indian government, which has so far used diplomatic channels to put more pressure on Pakistan.

A possible terrorist strike in India will also hamper the US administration’s war on terror and its policies aimed at uprooting the Taliban network in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

However, the intelligence agencies of India and the US are working closely to wipe out this impending threat from the terrorist groups.

The two sides have been exchanging data and vital information and extended co-operation since the ghastly terror attacks in Mumbai last year, which claimed over 150 people and injured score of others.
