Whether you love his films or not, you can’t deny the fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansali films are a visual treat. You will love them or hate them but you will never be able to forget them. We still remember all those magnificent scenes from Devdas that are etched in our minds forever. However, the director seems to be too fascinated by period dramas lately. The filmmaker celebrates his 54th birthday today and we couldn’t resist revisiting some of his best films.

Black, Khamoshi, Devdas, Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani are some of our favourites. We’re not too fond of Guzaarish but let’s just talk about all the good movies he has directed. He is not just a good director but he also has a knack for music and understands it better than most musicians. Which is precisely why the songs in his films are more popular than the film itself. Here are some movies that we absolutely loved!

The Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan film is one of the best films that SLB has contributed to Indian cinema. It’s always going to be one of the most memorable films that has been made.

How we wish SLB made another film with Salman Khan. Not just the songs but Khamoshi was a beautiful film overall. We’d love for him to make something like this in the near future.

Devdas is one of those films that stay with you forever. SLB ensured that SRK portrays the role of a heartbroken lover perfectly and every frame in the film screamed elegance and beauty.

Even though the film released after a lot of controversies and got mixed reviews, SLB’s visual treat was such a delight to watch. We run out of adjectives trying to define it. The story and film had its own flaws but it also had SLB written all over it.

Bajirao Mastani

SLB makes his actors deliver and how! A Ranveer Singh in Bajirao Mastani and the one in Padmaavat – they’re so perfect respectively. The epic war sequences, dialogue delivery and set design was like a perfectly gift for us.
