HP Slate Announced in early 2010, HP is yet to officially launch its much awaited tablet device. While HP is silent about the full specifications of the HP Slate some details had leaked out. Though earlier believed to be a Windows 7 device, HP's acquisition of Palm has changed the equations and the Slate could have the webOS instead. Sakshat tablet It seems that this time around India's ultra-low cost computing device is for real. The Rs 1500 Sakshat tablet initiative by the government of India promises to go where Nicholas Negroponte OLPC project couldn't. The device is still in a prototype stage and detailed specifications are not available. According to news reports HCL will help manufacture the device and it'll be ready by January 2011 and the students, for whom the device is meant for, will get theirs by the second half of 2011.
