Default Sreesanth tests positive for swine flu

Mohali: Opening bowler S Sreesanth was on Friday found to be suffering from swine flu, raising concerns about the health of both the Indian and Sri Lankan cricket teams with whom he travelled here from Nagpur for Saturday's Twenty20 match.

Sreesanth was admitted to a local hospital on Thursday and it was confirmed after tests that he is suffering from the H1N1 influenza, according Joint Secretary of Punjab Cricket Association G S Walia.
Both the cricket teams travelled here by a chartered flight from Nagpur where they played their first Twenty20 match. Sreesanth, who missed that match ostensibly due to a stomach upset, was on the flight.

No member of the Indian or Sri Lankan teams has so far shown any symptoms of swine flu but all the players would be subjected to a medical check-up tomorrow morning, said Walia.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni coughed a few times while addressing a press conference here earlier in the day but sources said that there was nothing to indicate so far that he was having flu.
Sreesanth and middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma, who is suffering from a shoulder injury, have been ruled out of the second Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka to be held here Saturday. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been called as a back up.

Sreesanth missed the first Twenty20 in Nagpur due to a stomach infection and was admitted here late Thursday night at Fortis hospital after he complained about high fever. His nasal and throat swab samples had been collected.
Meanwhile, Sharma went through all the drills during the practice session at the PCA stadium, but India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said the team management didn't want to take a chance with him.
Dhoni said that the final decision on the team composition will be taken in the morning.

"We will decide on the playing eleven tomorrow. We will have another look at the conditions," he said.
India lost the first match in Nagpur by 29 runs.
