18 Nov – Lux perfect Bride: MOW Brandishes Her Power, Again

As days go by, the invincible, undefeatable [in public voting] and evergreen MOW, Sudeshrani Chauhan has started using [and mis-using] her powers more and more. Whether it was the elimination of Nandita, or the fixation of the “Yash-Preet” Jodi, or even the selection of winner of the salad-making contest, it was all “manipulation”, to borrow Nandita’s words. Tonight’s episode reached another notch.

The episode started with the conversation cut short yesterday [by the channel] between Yash and Silkina. Silkina questions, why Yash’s relationship with Gurpreet didn’t go further, and whether he still had any feelings for her. Yash replies that he hadn’t given any commitment to Gurpreet [thats why the relationship ended], and that he has no more feelings for her. Silkina questions what he thinks about her, to which Yash mentions 4 things he likes ---- first, that she took responsibility of her family at a young age; second, that she’s independent and mature; third, she loves family and fourth, she’s clear about what she wants. Indeed, Silkina is clear about what she wants and totally agreed with Yash when he says, "4 weeks is enough to know a person, but not enough for a life partner". On the other hand, Gurpreet is shown crying, saying she came with some hope, which have been dashed to smithereens. She says, “Kya milega yahan hurt ho-ho ke”. [Then why did she come?] “Asuo ke kuch nahin mil rahe hain” [Took so much time to understand!]

A letter arrives in Mummymahal regarding the task for the grooms; and Rumpa reads out, “The main aim of the show is to meet the girl of their choice........”, which Sudeshrani interpretes as, “The main aim is to get married!” She questions, if one is not serious about marriage then why take part in task? She talks to Yash and Vivek and tells them that for 10 weeks they hadnt taken any decision and that she doesn’t think they want to go for marriage, and therefore have no right to take part in the task. When asked which girl they would like to take out if they win, both take Silkina’s name. She lashes at Vivek telling him, "Silkina was here on two occasions you did not take any step towards her"; then she asks Yash whether he would take a stand for Silkina against his mother. Yash replies, "Do-teen mulaqat, main shaadi ke liye nahin soch sakte". Yash further says in the confession room and rightly so, "Marriage is life ka faishla. No one can force me". Vivek is not happy about not being able to take part in the task, but doesn’t protest. Sudeshrani Chauhan’s fear seems to be the "power to save" that might be in the hands of one of the boys other than Hitesh. However, logically speaking, those who do not know each other and wants to know, should actually be given preference, rather than those who are already "set/ engaged"; for if one is "engaged", you need to just meet once in a while to reiterate your feelings or commitment......

Later, Sudeshrani Chauhan tries to justify her decision and says that in all of 10 weeks, Yash and Vivek’s moms did not take any interest in any girls, therefore their sons cannot compete since they do not have any pairs [so its clear, it’s a fight between two pairs now, is it?]. Moms don’t oppose. Interestingly, and very gutsily, Silkina speaks against the decision, and says, “Sabhi kunwar ko jana chahiye tha”. Sudeshrani brings up the issue why all the kunwars don’t need to go, and gives the example of Yash, that he had played with Gurpreet’s emotions for 6 weeks and hurt her. Yash’s mom gets upset and says, “No discussion about Yash”. Silkina says that the Kunwars at least have the intention, and they are not actually rejecting the idea of marriage.

The task, between the two already "set" kunwars ----- Hitesh and Rajbeer, take place in the market where they had to buy as many food items as possible in half an hour and with Rs. 1000 each. Hitesh buys 54 items, however Rajbeer pips him by 4 items and wins the task. When the news of Rajbeer winning reaches Mummymahal, Gurpreet seems insecure, and tells Rumpa, "Raj badla nikalega mujhse!" [Had she done something to Rajbeer that we do not know of? Or, is it just the fear that Rajbeer would not save her from elimination? For the record, he hasnt saved anybody from elimination ever!] Meanwhile, Sudeshrani wants to know more about the Rajbeer-Priyanka situation, so talks to Rajbeer’s Mom. When she says things are fine, Sudeshrani persists and says that Rajbeer had told her that marriage is not so sure, and that he’s waiting for the whole family’s support wholeheartedly. Rajbeer's Mom says, "If they want to marry any day, they were welcome and we will not oppose", and she also says that Rajbeer feels, “Jinhone ongli pakad ke chalna sikhaya, they have to be there”. Priyanka agrees.

All in all, it was a rather disappointing episode except when Silkina puts in her views regarding the decision made by the MOW, and Rajbeer winning the task. Afterall, we have been living on the same staple for many days now: MOW - Sudeshrani, Task winner - Hitesh Chauhan, Decisions made - Sudeshrani, Any objections? None, Everybody Agrees? Yes [they are forced to] LOL. Change badly needed, what say?

Tomorrow: Previews look interesting and exciting [comparatively]....... there's the Priyanka and Rajbeer date [for their fans], Yashdeep's Mom's breakdown, Gurpreet's info. saying her father took Vivek’s name and telling a shocked Sudeshrani that she doesn’t mind, and Rumpa-Hitesh’s gestures [for their fans]…....
