Default Best of 2017: TOP 10 Best New TV SHOWS (ON-AIR shows)

#BestOf2017: The shows that went ON-AIR standing out from the lot

These shows are the 'Best of the Lot' for us.

It's December and the end of an epic year that saw quite a radical change when it comes to the content on television, and so did many such shows come and go. And with this year coming to an almost end- Tellybuzz lists down few shows that we feel were the best among the lot of shows that went on-air this year. Of, course we could not have mentioned all the shows that went on air, but here are the ones that stood out.

Have a good read!

Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji

This is the sequel of Diya Aur Baati Hum and captures the journey of Sandhya and Sooraj's (Anas Rashid) daughter Kanak (Rhea Sharma) and how she gets married into a very closed minded family followed by her managing to change their mindset and conquering it all. In fact, the title of the show has also been taken from the title track of the show's first season. Though Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji was initially launched as one of the many shows on Star's Dopahar slot, after the channel's 7 pm slot was vacated by Saath Nibhana Saathiya, the show was shifted to that slot and has been fetching a good response in terms of both an increased viewership.

Kundali Bhagya

Kundali Bhagya is the story of Kumkum Bhagya's Pragya's (Sriti Jha) extended family - her sisters Preeta (Shraddha Arya) and Shrishti (Anjum Fakhih), who reunite with their mother Sarla after a very long time. This is a spin off to Zee TV's TRP topper Kumkum Bhagya and is doing way better in terms of TRPs and even content, as compared to its parent show. In fact, Kundali Bhagya always manages to clench the top spot week after week in the TRP charts, while Kumkum Bhagya goes up and down.

Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya

Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya is the continuation of one of the most controversial shows of 2017 - Pehredaar Piya Ki. It can be recalled that Pehredaar... was not received well. Many sections of the industry as well as the Rajput community took offence to the show's concept and the show had to abruptly be pulled off air. However, the makers promised and returned with the show's sequel; this time with a new title and a major change in the concept. The show was re-christened as Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya and saw a leap of 12 years where a now grown up Ratan Mann Singh (Rohit Suchanti) returns after completing his education in London and Diya (Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar) is still awaiting the day when she will vanquish Ratan's enemies, give Ratan his due responsibilities and live a burden-free life.

Porus

Sony TV's latest offering Porus, is one gamechanger for Indian television in terms of redefining content. Right from the story narration, the performances, the sets to the VFX and every minute detailing, the makers have done it right. Having a mega budget of approximately Rs. 500 crores, the show sure has kept up to many expectations. And a special mention must be made to the casting of the show- as the makers have hit the bull's eye with it. Every character cast, perfects his/her role. Also, with the makers bringing to life a concept that has not been explored much, the show definitely has many takers.

Piyaa Albela

Piya Albela, a Sooraj Barjatya production, is the modern adaptation of Vishwamitra and Menaka's love story. The show is also something that the film maker worked on for 8 years. The story is about how Naren (Akshay Mhatre), a boy who is not interested in the worldly pleasures but is caught up in a mind of his own and is busy soul-searching where a girl Pooja (Sheen Das), who is completely opposite to Naren enters his life. This show hands down was one underdog show, that literally has made its way to the top- slowly but steadily. Off lately, the show has also been making it to the top 10 shows on the TRP chart, which is a huge feat for the entire team.

Dil Se Dil Tak

Dil Se Dil Tak is the television adaptation of Salman Khan-Rani Mukherjee-Preity Zinta starrer Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. The show, that starred Siddharth Shukla-Rashami Desai-Jasmin Bhasin in the lead roles, was initially received well by the audience. But soon enough, other happenings on the sets of the show like Siddharth's link up with both Rashami and Jasmin, Siddharth and Rashami's cold war, Siddharth's fight with co-star Kunal Verma and his 'supposed ouster' from the show, took over the headlines. Nevertheless, it continues to do decently in the rating charts.

Woh Apna Sa

Woh Apna Sa, a show that launched way back in January, grabbed headlines for being the comeback vehicle of 2 of television's leading ladies - Riddhi Dogra Vashisth and Disha Parmar. In fact, this was producer Siddharth P Malhotra's second show with his independent production house Alchemy Productions. The show has not only been received well, but underwent quite a few changes like - Ridhi Dogra quitting the show when it was all set to take a leap and this leap also paved the way for a re-incarnation track in the show, which again was a welcome change for the loyal viewers of the show.

Star Bharat shows

Life OK underwent a revamp and became Star Bharat, thus making a huge comeback with 5 shows, which again were lesser explored concepts. A few more shows were launched in the next month of Star Bharat having gone live. The channel can be attributed to having made a huge contribution to Indian television with these shows from among which Jiji Maa, Nimki Mukhiya and Kya Haal Mr. Panchaal are doing exceptionally well in terms of numbers than other shows on mainstream GECs.

Did we miss any more shows? We'd like to know your choices as well and hence, do leave your opinions in the comment section below.
