Default Best of 2018 - TOP 10 Best TV shows of the Year

Bepannaah, Naagin 3, Ishq Subhan Allah – which TV show from the first half of 2018 totally bowled you over

Make our lives easier by helping us choose the best show from the first half of 2018

The first six months saw a number of new shows being rolled out for the audience. It is truly one of the most prolific years when it comes to new shows as new offerings were in abundance. The shows gained eyeballs for different reasons. While Jennifer Winget and Harshad Chopda’s Bepannaah was undoubtedly the most hyped and marketed show of the first half, Naagin 3 made a splash with its great ratings. We also had shows with relatable story-lines like Roop – Mard Ka Naya Swaroop, Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka and Dil Hi Toh Hai. It is tough for us to decide which is the best show so far. So, do vote and let us know….

Bepannaah
It is always a treat to see Jennifer Winget on screen and she did not make us wait for long. After acing the part of the psychotic Maya in Beyhadh, she was back as the naive Zoya in Bepannaah. We hardly get to see intense love stories mixed with conflict and suspense, so the show was a winner with its content. Harshad Chopda who is also seen after a long time is making a great impression with his emotionally charged performance. The ensemble cast of Vaishnavi Dhanraj, Rajesh Khattar and Parineeta are also in great form. People cannot get enough of Jennifer and Harshad’s magical chemistry and discuss it endlessly on social media.

Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka
Drashti Dhami made a comeback as an abused wife with this tale of friendship, abusive relationships and supposed infidelity. Many were upset about the theme of extramarital affair and the show did not get a huge opening. However, it is picking up slowly and steadily. Silsila boasts of a relatable storyline, fine performances, good production values and a fine villain in Abhinav Shukla.

Naagin 3
Ekta Kapoor’s superhit franchise about the snake-woman taking the human form to avenge atrocities committed against her clan have been a hit all through. The third season has a new cast and a plot-line filled with suspense and intrigue. Anita Hassanandani is ****ing it as the devious and glamorous Vish Khanna. Actor Ankit Mohan was wonderful as the leery Yuvi. The show started on the top slot and continues to reign so far. Ishq Subhan Allah
The show based on the lives of two Muslim characters, Zara (Eisha Singh) and Kabeer (Adnan Khan) grabbed a lot of attention due to the aspect of Triple Talaq. However, the makers maintained that it was about women’s empowerment. The show has a lot of drama, a sizzling chemistry between the lead pair and relatable situations. While Eisha was a known name, Adnan is the new heartthrob of TV town.

Qayamat Ki Raat
Ekta Kapoor has a lot of reason to celebrate as two of her shows, Naagin 3 and QKR are in the top ten. A kitschy horror flick inspired by the good old Ramsay films, Qayamat has some good VFX and a good cast. People are liking the show despite its odd telecast timing.

Dil Hi Toh Hai
The BARC figures of Dil Hi Toh Hai are not great but the show is winning hearts online. It is a contemporary love story with Karan Kundrra and Yogita Bihani in lead roles. He plays the tormented Rithwik Noon while she is in an independent woman. The vibe of the show is young and contemporary.

Kullfi Kumar Baajewala
Everyone loves a heartwarming story between a father and daughter. Mohit Malik is fabulous as the troubled dad Sikander Singh Gill while Aakriti Sharma is winning us over every day. The show is the remake of Potol Kumar Gaanwala, a hit Bengali show.
Roop – Mard Ka Naya Swaroop
With crimes against women making for shocking headlines on a daily basis, it is good to see a show that has the main protagonist challenging the way society views the two genders and their roles. Rashmi Sharma’s production is behind Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, a show about the LGBT community and now it has come up with this unique concept.
