The first quarter of 2018 has turned out to be one of the best things for the entertainment industry, where maximum big ticket films have performed phenomenally well at the box office. Expectations from the film were sky high since the name of director Neeraj Pandey was associated with it. But due to a weak plot and an uninteresting storyline, it failed to attract audience to the cinema halls. Made on a budget of around Rs 65 crore, Aiyaary merely raked in around Rs 18 crore, proving to be a loss for the makers. Kaalakaandi The trailer of Saif Ali Khan-starrer dark comedy Kaalakaandi impressed us with its unusual appeal but as soon it hit the screens, the film was met with complete rejection from the audience. The film ended its theatrical run with merely Rs 6 crore in its kitty. Dil Juunglee The promo of Saqib Saleem and Taapsee Pannu‘s Dil Juunglee looked like a breath of fresh air when it came out but the done-to-death storyline and average chemistry between the lead pair made this film a not-so-happening affair. In fact, the film didn’t even cross the Rs 2 crore mark at the ticket windows. Welcome To New York Welcome To New York, which was promoted as a comedy, failed to tickle us silly. Featuring Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh, along with many Bollywood stars in a cameo, earned merely Rs 3 crore at the box office. 3 Storeys While the storyline of the film was quite decent, the absence of known names made 3 Storeys a box office dud. Despite receiving positive reviews, it failed to entice the audience to the theatres. |
