Default Bidaai back at TOP ONE Position with a New record in TRP

The Taj Mahotsav episode in Rajan Shahi’s Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai has raked a record breaking TVR of 8.79, thus becoming the top rated fiction show of the week. Till date, the only fiction show across GECs to get a rating of more than 8 TVR has been Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, way back in April 2007.

Recently, COLORS’ Balika Vadhu has been giving Bidaai tough competition for the #1 slot. But the Taj Mahotsav episode and the recent extension that Bidaai got seems to have worked well for the channel, as the Star Plus show got an average TVR of 7.59 while the average TVR of Balika Vadhu on the same week was 6.51.

A very elated Rajan Shahi says, “The interesting part was that the extension in timings was received very well by the viewers. The usual slot between 9-9.30 got a TVR of 8, but the new slot between 9.30 and 10 took the show to a higher level with a TVR of 10. As far as the number one position goes, that does not affect me much now as our only aim is to continue working harder towards giving a good product”.

With this accomplishment, STAR Plus bags a GRP of 323, thus cushioning its position as the top ranked channel.

We asked Keertan Adhyantaya, General Manager, EVP, Star Plus about this accomplishment, and he says, “Bidaai is an extremely well-made show which has well-etched characters and an involving story line. The creative and marketing teams of the channel work in tandem with the production house to deliver this outstanding show which has aced the TRP charts”.

On the tough competition put up by COLORS, Keertan states, “Competition is a way of life. There have been numerous challengers – Zee, Sony and now COLORS. But our endeavor is to focus on our own shows and challenge our people to see how we can improve our shows. Balika Vadhu is an excellent show, and we are making all efforts to regain our leadership in the 8 PM slot where the COLORS show is leading at the moment”.

Well, it might surely be celebration time as far as Star Plus and Bidaai go, but they need to get back to the grind quickly to keep their flags flying high!!
