About the show Rishton Se Badi Pratha:

• Rishton Se Badi Pratha (English: Customs, More Important Than Relationships) is an Indian television series that premiered on Colors on 15 November 2010 – 27 May 2011
• 
• It narrates the story of two lovers, Abhay and Surbhi, living in western Uttar Pradesh. They incur the wrath of their respective families when they elope with each other. Their family members decide to teach them a lesson by the barbaric practice of honour ****ing. However, when Abhay reveals that Surbhi is expecting his child, his family spares the couple's lives in the hope of a son being born to her. Surrounded by hostile relatives, Abhay and Surbhi have to cross many hurdles in order to safeguard themselves and their child. This series failed to gain the expected popularity and therefore ended earlier than was intended. Moreover, it was also under the scanner of the Information and Broadcast Ministry of the Government of India for telecasting violent beating scenes, especially those involving the female protagonist.

Story, Plot:

• This is a story that revolves around 2 innocent souls passionately in love, where their love becomes the eye of the storm with the brute power dynamics, corrupt and of customs that have gone wrong, of notions perceived and interpreted to suit the ego of the male dominated society- where a woman has no right to choose a companion for herself. And if she dares to that, its not just the girl who faces the wrath of the society and her own family, but even the guy is ****ed in the name of the so called HONOUR.

The show is from the maker's of the bumper hit show Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya.It is expected to be the next pillar show for the channel.For that the makers organized workshop's for the actors to analyze their respective characters and subsequently to thick the story plot.Show will starts its airing from 15 NOVEMBER 2010 at 7.30pm.

Controversies:

• The show was heavily criticised for its sensitive content and brutal beating and violent fighting sequences that featured the female protagonist. The TV series also failed to achieve popularity as expected from the viewers. The show was also under the vigilance of Information and Broadcast Ministry of the Government of India for portraying such sensitive and controversial issues. Actor Gaurav Chaudhary later replaced by Vishal Karwal played the role of Abhay and actor Shalini Chandran later replaced by Parul Chauhan essayed the role of Surbhi.

Show end on 27 May 2011 and Replaced with Thoda Hai Bas Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai at 7.30 pm

Colors’ upcoming show Pratha is on course to go on floor after getting its principle cast...

Colors' TV upcoming show Rishton Se Badi Pratha jointly produced by Spellbound Productions and Walkwater Productions has finally found its principle cast.

As we know, the show is set-up in UP and will deal with an issue of Honor ****ing.


After an extensive search the channel and production house have now zeroed in on the lead cast of the show.

We hear that Shalini Chandran, who earlier played one of the leads in Zee TV's Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah, makes a comeback to TV with Pratha. Playing her love interest will be Gaurav Chaudhary of Do Saheliyan fame.

A little birdie tells us, "Nimay Bali plays father to the male lead. Zed Khan who was last seen in Agnipareeksha Jeevan Ki Ganga will play the elder brother of the male lead. He will have an aggressive personality and will be at loggerhead with the female lead's brother, played by Faisal Raza Khan. Seema Pandey plays the mother of the female lead."

We hear that the channel plans to shoot the promo tomorrow, and will go on floor on Oct. 3. When contacted, Shalini Chandran refused to comment.

Gaurav Chaudhary told us, "I have just given an audition and I am waiting for the result." Zeb Khan confirmed that he is part of the show, but refused to divulge detail.

Our repeated attempts to get in touch with Producer Pearl Grey were futile, as she did not respond. The show is expected to launch in the last week of October.

Pearl Grey has found her male lead for her upcoming show on Colors’Rishton Se Badi Pratha…


After rigorous hunting, Producer Pearl Grey has finally locked the male lead of her upcoming show Rishton Se Badi Pratha. Actor Gagan Malik who was last seen in Star One's Shakuntala will play the male lead in Colors' Pratha. Female lead of the show is yet to be finalized.



It is buzzed that the production house has finalized most of the cast but the channel wasn't impressed with the choice of actors. The production house had to cast afresh.

Informs our source, ''Gagan Malik has been finalized to play the male lead of the show. Apart from him Faisal Raza Khan, Nimai Bali and Seema Pandey, Tulika have been finalized to play pivotal roles. Krishna's dadi from Star Plus' Pratigya will also be seen in the show. Channel is planning to launch the show as soon as they finish with their final casting ".

We also hear that Gagan's character will be of a simple and nice guy who can at times become aggressive. When contacted, Gagan Malik refused to comment. Producer Pearl Grey also remained unavailable for comment.

Vishal Karwal is all set to play the main lead in Colors' new show Rishton Se Badi Pratha



The future of Colors' upcoming show Rishton Se Badi Pratha seemed bleak, what with the never ending search to get the main leads. However all is well that now as the channel has finally managed to get the cast they wanted. The latest is that the girl's favourite Vishal Karwal, who by playing the lead in Colors' Bhagyavidhata has gained a lot of recognition, has been chosen to play the lead in Pratha.

Our source tells us, "After Gaurav Chaudhary and Shalini Chandran were replaced even after their promos went on air, the channel was clear that they needed a known face to carry the role. Vishal had in the meantime, put down his papers as he did not wish to continue with Bhagyavidhata, as the show is all set to take for a big generation leap. Hence the channel decided to rope in Vishal for their next big show."

We hear that big names like Rajat Tokas were also considered, but Vishal was always the channel's first choice. It is heard that Vishal had lot many offers in the kitty out of which he has chosen Pratha.

Our source further says, "Vishal has signed on the dotted lines and is all set to start shoot in a day or two." We hear that a fresh face Neha Saxena, from the Mithibai College will play the female lead.

For the uninitiated, Gagan Malik was signed to play lead earlier, but he opted out due to personal reasons. After a long search, they zeroed in on Shalini Chandran and Gaurav Chaudhary, with whom the promo was also shot and aired. However, the bad response to the promo prompted the channel to go for another change.
