Vikram: The Comeback Man!



Vikram had a terrible 2008, with the super dud 'Bheema' vanishing from theatres only days after its release. Susi Ganesan's 'Kanthaswamy', made at a budget of Rs. 60 crore, has Vikram staging a comeback.The film was declared a superhit within two weeks of its release.

Jayam Ravi: "Here's looking at you...!"



It has been a long wait for Jayam Ravi, after 'Dhaam Dhoom', to have a go at the B.O. But, the wait has been worth it. For his 'Peraanmai' became the surprise hit of 2009. The film has been picking up momentum ever since its release and is on its way to becoming a blockbuster.

Vijay: Luckier than thou!



In a year that saw almost all the Kannada superstars (such as Ganesh, Shivaraja Kumar and Darshan) hit dust, Vijay was the luckiest. He acted in two films--'Junglee' and 'Thaakath'-- and both of them completed 50 days at major centres.

Mammootty: His Highness...



Mammootty's 'Pazhassi Raja', after having broken all collection records in Malayalam, is setting the Tamil B.O. on fire. This year, he has had four releases other than this--'Daddy cool', 'Ee Pattanathil Bhootham', 'Love in Singapore' and 'Loud Speaker'. Most of these were flops but 'Pazhassi...' has set the record straight.

Sasikumar: New is gold!



'Subrahmanyapuram' Sasikumar has been a whiff of fresh air to Kollywood, plagued by formulaic flicks. In 2009, he played the hero in 'Nadodigal', directed by his friend Samuthirakkani. The film was another welcome departure from mainstream conventions. The low-budget movie grossed Rs 53 crore.
