Default HCL Technologies



Next on the list of biggest IT employers is India's fifth largest software services exporter HCL Technologies Ltd. The Noida-based company which follows a July-June financial year, said that the employee headcount stood at 54,026 and made 2,298 gross additions in the third quarter ended March 2009.

The company was recently ranked No. 1 Employer in India and Best Employer in Asia by Hewitt 2009 Study.

At no 6 is the Indian subsidiary of the global IT giant Hewlett-Packard, the company which specialises in developing and manufacturing computing, storage, and networking hardware, software and services.

India is one of the largest and most diverse sites for HP outside US.

Headquartered in California, the company has approximately 321,000 employees worldwide. In India, HP has centres in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune and Vadodara

India's leading provider of global infrastructure technology outsourcing, applications services outsourcing and business process outsourcing services, MphasiS Ltd, is at the seventh spot on the country’s biggest IT employers’ list.

As at 30 April 2009, the Group's headcount stood at 33,810. During the quarter ended April 30th 2009, MphasiS added 3,822 (net) employees. The group has operations in India, US, Europe, Asia Pacific, Japan and the Middle East. MphasiS was recently rated # 18 among Dataquest Top 20 BPO Companies.

MphasiS is now a part of global giant HP. The company was bought over by IT services company EDS, which was last year taken over by HP to add muscle to its services offering.

Eight biggest IT employer on the list is Mumbai-based Intelenet Global Services Ltd, a leading global third-party BPO company. One of the largest BPO employers in India with 30 delivery centres across the globe, the company has approximately 27,000 employees. The company calls itself an Equal Opportunity Employer with its goal being to ensure that all employees are treated equally without bias to their race, religion, ***, color, age, nationality, or physical disability.

The company also claims to have open employee communication channels such as Town Hall meetings, Focus Group meetings, I-Scoop, to share important organisational and industry developments.

Intelenet was acquired by PE firm, Blackstone Group. The company was ranked No 15 among large organisations in the ET- IT's Great Places to Work Survey 2009.

At No 9 is IBM Daksh which offers business performance improvement and is a step closer to Business Transformation Outsourcing (BTO).

IBM Daksh grew to 20,000 employees, up 234% from 6,000 employees it had in April 2004 when it was acquired by IBM. Today, IBM Daksh employs more than 30,000 employees.

The company has 25 service delivery centers in India and Philippines.
