Kick

Over the years, Bollywood has looked towards the South Indian movie industry for inspiration. Take a look at some of the Southern flicks that have been remade into Bollywood blockbusters. Superstar Salman Khan pairing up with Sonakshi Sinha to act in the Bollywood remake of Tamil blockbuster 'Kick' is testimonial to this fact. The film to be directed by Shirish Kunder has tentatively been named 'Sanki'.

Wanted

The much-acclaimed Telugu action thriller film 'Pokkiri' was remade into Wanted with Salman Khan in the lead and the film was a box office hit. While Salman was the original choice for the lead character, the offer for playing the female protagonist first went to Asin. After Asin rejected the offer, it finally fell into the lap of Ayesha Takia.

Yuva

The film starring Abhishake Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi was not actually a remake. Incidentally, the Tamil version 'Ayitha Ezuthu' and 'Yuva' were simultaneous productions. The Tamil version also directed by Mani Ratnam was set in Chennai. The Tamil version, however was regarded more popular among film critics.

Ghajini

Both the Tamil version and the Bollywood remake went on to become big success stories at the box office. While the character of the male lead went to Aamir Khan in the remake (South super star Suriya played the same character in the Tamil version), Asin played the female lead in both the versions.

Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein

This 2001 release was a remake of Gautham Menon's popular Tamil film 'Minnale' which also starred Madhavan in the lead. The film was not much successful at the box office. However, the film's music earned unanimous applause.
