Initially it was speculated that Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs will be followed by Dance India Dance season two but the show will launch in December or early January next year. L’il Champs is expected to end sometime in October and so there will be a gap of close to two months between the two shows. To fill the vacuum, Zee TV is planning to introduce a reality show for a short period of time. The show is tentatively titled as Mahakumbh.


Informs a source, “L’il Champs would conclude sometime in October and Dance India Dance is expected to commence only by December. Hence, there will be a gap of two months and so the channel has decided to produce another reality show one that will mark the success of their flagship reality show Saregamapa, which will soon complete 1000 episodes.

Expectedly, it’s another singing reality show and it will feature former winners, runners-up and potential singers coming together and competing against each other. The host and judges are yet to be decided. Singers like Aneek Dhar, Raja Hassan, Sumedha Karmahe, Sanchita Mukherjee, Vasundhara Raturi, Rohanpreet Singh have been approached for the show. Shooting of the same will commence from 27 October.”


We spoke to one of the contestant who merely agreed that he/she has been offered such a show but refused to give any other detail.


We sent a text message to Zee TV programming head Ajay Bhalwankar but he did not reply.

After the culmination of Zee TV's ongoing show SaReGaMaPa L'il Champs, viewers will be witnessing with yet another singing realty show which is tentatively titled Mahakumbh.



According to our source, "L'il Champs will conclude sometime in October after which this show will be seen. The second season of Dance India Dance will be launched only in December or January 2010, and Mahakumbh has been planned to fill the slot for two months or so. Mahakumbh will feature former winners, runners-up etc. The contestants will be grouped by the states they represent".

"Talents like Raja Hassan, Sumedha Karmahe, Aneek Dhar, Rohanpreet Singh, Vasundhara Raturi, Sanchita Mukherjee, Anamika, Aamir Hafiz, Pratibha Singh and many others have been approached for the show", informs our source.

The shoot for the show is expected to start from the second week of October.

We contacted Raja Hassan, who said, "Yes, talks are on. I will let you know once all is finalized".

Aneek Dhar also accepted to being offered the show, but refused to divulge details.

We tried calling Ajay Bhalwankar, Programming Head, Zee TV but he remained unavailable.
