Madhumati
Madhumati is a 1958 Hindi film produced and directed by Bimal Roy, and written by Ritwik Ghatak and Rajinder Singh Bedi. The music was composed by Salil Choudhury with the lyrics by Shailendra. The film stars Dilip Kumar, Vyjayantimala, Pran, and Johnny Walker. It was one of the earliest films to deal with reincarnation and had a gothic noir feel to it. The first and only collaboration between Roy and Ghatak, it was one of their most commercially successful and influential films at the time.

Guide
Guide is a 1965 Hindi film starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. It was directed by Vijay Anand, who also contributed to the screenplay. The film is based on the critically acclaimed novel, The Guide, by R K Narayan, and is widely considered to be one of the masterpieces of the Indian film industry. The film proved to be a box office hit upon release. This movie proved memorable for its award-winning performances by the lead actors and memorable music by S D Burman. A 120-minute US version was made with additional directing and writing. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007, 42 years after its release.

Lamhe
Lamhe is a Hindi film released in 1991, directed by Yash Chopra. The story was written by Honey Irani. The film was critically acclaimed, had exceptional music and did brilliant business in UK. Unfortunately, it was not a box-office success in India. It is one of the few films that picked up 'The Best Film' award at Filmfare despite its lacklustre business. Lamhe was shot in two schedules in Rajasthan and London. Over the years the film has been hailed as a cult classic and is regarded as a modern masterpiece and possibly Yash Chopra's finest film.

Deewaar
Deewaar is a 1975 Indian drama directed by Yash Chopra, written by Salim-Javed, and stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. Reflective of politics of the early 70sin India, Deewar tells the story of two impoverished brothers who, after their family is betrayed by the misplaced idealism of their father, struggle to survive on the streets of Mumbai. Deewaar was a ground-breaking work. It was one of a few films which established Bachchan as the "angry young man" of Hindi cinema. This movie cemented the success of the writing duo Salim-Javed, who went on to write many more blockbuster films, and made them one of the most memorable writers in Hindi cinema. It is said that after the success of this film, the value of film writers skyrocketed, thanks to Salim-Javed, and they soon were being as high as some of the actors at the time.

Sangam
Sangam is a 1964 Hindi movie produced by RK Films and directed by Raj Kapoor. Music for the film was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan, with song lyrics by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri. Sangam was producer Raj Kapoor's first color film, distinguished by its technicolor and epic length. It became a hit in India and is considered a classic today. One of the features of the film that became widely used later on in Bollywood is the use of foreign locales for on-location shooting, such as Venice, Paris, and Switzerland for the film's honeymoon sequence. This started the Bollywood trend of shooting songs sequences abroad (primarily in Switzerland), against the background of "exotic" landscapes.
