2018 had just begun and here we wrapping up the first quarter! This year, we saw an interesting mix of performances that showcased a new side to these actors. GV Prakash made everyone sit up with his intense performance in Nachiyaar, Ram Charan had everyone applauding for his fun loving yet intimidating act as Chitti Babu. Nivin Pauly once again exhibited his versatility in Hey Jude and Nadamuri Balakrishna wowed us with his commercial avatar yet again. Varun Tej has proved to be the perfect romantic hero with Tholi Prema, after a heartfelt performance in Fidaa. Ram Charan – He ended this quarter with a bang! His act as Chitti Babu, a ‘sound’ engineer, hard of hearing has been applauded by fans, celebs and critics. He has got into the skin of character to play this brave yet vulnerable character. He has not only worked on the character’s mannerisms but also on his look. One of the most stylish actors of Tollywood was suddenly sporting colourful lungis and shirts to play the rural character. He is one of the biggest highlights of Rangasthalam. Nivin Pauly – The charming, lovable actor has always managed to surprise us with his versatile acts in Premam, Inspector Biju, Jacobinde Swargarajyam. Unsurprisingly, he managed to make us sit up with his act in Hey Jude. He plays a socially awkward character with such ease and finesse, at the same time he exhibits an endearing charm that makes you root for him. With this innocent yet intense act, he left us enthralled for the nth time.

Varun Tej – With Tholi Prema, Tollywood actor Varun Tej has proved that he is the quintessential lover boy. Last year he was seen in Fidaa opposite Sai Pallavi. The film opened to rave reviews on its release. After playing the NRI, Varun was set to play an intense lover who can’t move past his first love. Tholi Prema on its release garnered positive reviews. The lead cast was specially praised for their natural chemistry and convincing performances.

GV PrakashWith Nachiyaar, GV Prakash exhibited exceptional range as an actor. In a film that starred veteran actress Jyothika, GV Prakash managed to stand his own ground. His portrayal of a flawed character was sharp and thought provoking

Nandamuri Balakrishna – The veteran Telugu actor returned to doing what he does best with Jai Simha. His classy yet massy act was applauded by fans. While the film didn’t have anything new to offer, the movie went on to fare well at the box office. It was one of the first commercial successes of 2018.
