MTV new show "Rock On" - Full Details

A reality series titled Rock On is all set to kick start on MTV that captures the entire process of the hunt and making of India’s new Desi Rock Band! Kailash Kher, music composer Ram Sampath and VJ Nikhil Chinapa will be the judges.


The prize includes an album deal with T-series, a music video produced by MTV, a mega concert besides a state of the art instrument set. The show is not limited to singers alone but also to the instrument players.

Ashish Patil, General Manager MTV India & Senior Vice President Creative & Content, says, “MTV will create, launch and showcase a revolutionary new band that will redefine music and show that rock is not niche.”


Auditions will take place on 9 July in Kolkata (Swabhoomi), 12 July at Bangalore (Jnana Jyothi), 15th July Delhi (Ambedkar Bhavan) and 19 July Mumbai (MTV Studio) at 9:00 am.


Competitions are based on performance, s**** and the ‘Desipann Quotient’ [D.Q.] as the contestants compete as individuals and bands every week.

Want to be a rock star, and looking for a break? Well, you might just get lucky, as music channel MTV has launched a new reality show that will hunt for and select a music band.


The channel will conduct the auditioning in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore. The show Kurkure Desi Beats Rock On With MTV, will be judged by singer Kailash Kher, composer Ram Sampath and VJ Nikhil Chinappa.


"MTV's combining two of it's biggest strengths - the ability to predict the next big thing and reality programming for a show. The new band will redefine music and show you that rock is not niche. Rock is the new 'gharaana'," said Ashish Patil, general manager of MTV India.


The winner of the show, which will last 13 episodes, will be entitled to an album deal with T-Series, a music video produced by MTV, a mega concert and a state of the art instrument set.


Auditions will begin in Kolkata July 9, followed by Bangalore July 12, Delhi July 15 and Mumbai July 19.
