Verkhoyansk in Russia
Verkhoyansk in Russia is a residence to hardly 1,434 citizens who just dare to stay in the skin biting cold. Located 404 miles from Yakutsk, another cold locale on our list and 1,500 miles south of the North Pole, Verkhoyansk was used to house political exiles between the 1860s and early 20th century. January the average temperature is minus 56 degrees F (minus 48.9 degrees C) and mean monthly temperatures stay below freezing from October through April. In 1892, residents recorded the still all-time low of minus 90 degrees F (minus 67.8 degrees C).


Harbin at Heilongjiang in China
Harbin is located in north-eastern China and is home to over 10 million people. It is even known as the ice city for its spine chilling climatic conditions. Normal low temperatures during January range from minus 8 to minus 12 F (minus 22 to minus 24 C). Temperatures as extreme as minus 44 F (minus 42 C) have been recorded during winter in Harbin

Vostok in Antarctica
This is a Russian research station located inland Princess Elizabeth Land in Antarctica. It was founded in 1957 and lies south of the Pole of Cold. It has the lowest reliably measured natural temperature on earth of -128.6 degrees F (-89.2 degrees C). At the research station, ice core drilling and magnetometry is carried out.




International Falls in Minnesota in US
According to a 2010 census, there are just 6703 residents in this place and this lies on the border of US and Canada. Winters in International Falls are long and cold with average temperatures in January hovering around 2.8 degrees F (minus 16.2 degrees C) as the low. The mercury hits zero F (minus 17.8 C) on more than 60 nights a year, and the area gets a lot of snow (65.5 inches of annual snowfall).



Winnipeg at Manitoba in Canada
The city is home to more than 715,000 people and is one of the coldest major cities in North America. Situated in the Canadian Prairies, Winnipeg experiences normal January lows of minus 5 to minus 9 F (minus 20 to minus 22 C).



Eismitt in Greenland
This place is located in the interior of Greenland. The expedition took place during the period of July 1930 and August 1931. The area is known to be one of the coldest locations in the North Hemisphere having recorded the lowest temperature of -53 degrees F (-47.2 degrees C)



Hell, Norway
The average temperature in January 2016 was a balmy 25 degrees F (minus 3.9 degrees C). Tourists have trekked to Hell in recent years, many to photograph themselves in front of one of the town’s train station signs. Hell freezes over, on average, a third of the year, running from December through March.



Snag, Yukon
Snag is a village found on a small, dry weather side road located 25 kilometers east of Beaver Creek, Yukon, Canada. It is number 6 on the top 10 coldest places on Earth having recorded a low temperature of -81.4 degrees F (-63 degrees C). The town is located 180 kilometers northeast of Snag. As of 2006, no population was recorded resulting in the census for the location being closed.



Barrow in Alaska
Barrow is the northernmost city in the United States and is just 1,300 miles south of the North Pole and 320 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The mean temperature doesn't break out of freezing until June and even then only barely does the average mean for July is only 37 degrees F (2.8 degrees C). Barrow is the economic hub of the North Slope and many of its residents work in the energy industry. The city is reachable only by aircraft or by sea.
