Spy movies have been the staple diet of movie fanatics since ages. Made famous by the suave James Bond, spy movies have sprung out to be a subgenre in itself.

1. Austin Powers Series


A movie series produced by Mike Myers and Demi Moore, 'Austin Power' stars Mike Myers himself as a geeky-looking womaniser spy who can get the ladies floored with his mystical charisma. It revolves around Austin Powers saving the world from Dr. Evil (played yet again by Myers himself). The series spun three movies, the first one being ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ in 1997 followed by ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’ and ‘Austin Powers in Goldmembers’. A hilarious set of flicks, they revolve around Austin Power and his escapades with women and bad guys alike!

2. True Lies



An Arnold Schwarzenegger flick, ‘True Lies’ is about a simple man who lives the life of an undercover secret agent fighting terrorists and juggling a normal life. Due to unfortunate chain of events that raise hell, Arnie is eventually led to reveal his true identity to his wife and unleash some more hell soon after! ‘True Lies’ has it all, the guns, the explosions, the bodies of bad guys flying around, and Arnie being a total terminator as always! Watch this one for Arnie’s successful attempt at comedy!

3. Get Smart



Everything that Steve Carell touches turns into pure gold, and ‘Get Smart’ is no different. The movie has Steve Carell starring as a disheartening and over-smart spy who knows too well, and is paired with the hot Anne Hathaway, a thoroughly professional spy aptly titled Agent 99. The movie revolves around Carell and Hathaway trying to avert an explosion that will **** the president, and all thanks to Carell’s antics, a chain of disasters follow! Watch this one if you love Steve Carell and you’ll be mighty pleased by him, like always!

We all adore Mr. Bean. An epitome of slapstick comedy, Rowan Atkinson has been entertaining us for decades with his hilarious antics as the innocent yet cheeky Mr. Bean. He does the same, albeit this time around with a certain suave and demeanour that’ll floor everyone around. A spy equipped with unparalleled confidence and zero intelligence, Atkinson fights the bad guys with a charm that’ll remind you of the good old Bean days. A hilarious laughathon, it’s fun to sadistically laugh at Atkinson and his misadventures!


5. Mr. & Mrs. Smith


Okay, this flick isn’t about spy per se, but it tells a story about a normal average everyday couple who lead a secret life of top-class assassins from rival agencies, and due to few unfortunate events, their secret identities are revealed, and Armageddon ensues. Essaying the role of Mr. & Mrs. Smith are none other than the real-life couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The couple is as classy as they could ever be, brandishing knives and rushing at each-other’s throats, only to fall unapologetically in love and eventually fight for their survival together. The execution of the movie clubbed with their flawless acting makes this one a brilliant action-comedy movie for one and all!

6. Spies Like Us



No movie can ever go wrong when you pair the legendary Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd in a flick, and that’s what transpired with ‘Spies Like Us’. Released in 1985 in the heights of Chevy and Dan’s commercial success, ‘Spies Like Us’ was a definitive hit! The 80’s duo with the funny-bone, the movie starred them as a pair of incompetent CIA agents who’re sent to Pakistan for a mission but they later realize that they’re decoys for a bigger masterplan! As if the story wasn’t twisted enough, the duos impeccable acting and hilarious innuendos still cracks everyone up!
