Indian captain Virat Kohli has responded to Kagiso Rabada's 'immature' comment ahead of the World Cup clash between the two sides. Kohli said that he will deal with this personally and won't say anything during the press conference.

A few days ago the South African pace bowler Rabada stated that Virat Kohli is immature and can't handle abuses. It was a big statement from the fast-bowler ahead of the big clash against India.

Talking to Cricinfo earlier, Rabada stated that when Virat scores a boundary he will say something. But when you give it back he will get angry.

"I was just thinking about the game plan, really, but Virat, he hit me for a boundary and then he had a word. And then when you give it back to him, he gets angry. I don't get the guy. Maybe he does it because it gets him going, but that comes across as very immature for me. He is a phenomenal player but he can't take the abuse.”

Virat Kohli has responded to Rabada's statement during today's press conference ahead of the India vs South Africa game."I've played against Kagiso many times. If there's anything to discuss I'll do it man to man. I won't use a press conference for that."

The Indian captain also backed Kuldeep Yadav who had an average IPL season. He has stated that there is no connection between IPL and the World Cup."To me, IPL has no connection to the World Cup. Kuldeep has done well over the last two years. Few T20 games won't change his confidence." Virat also left a message for his RCB teammate Dale Steyn who has been ruled out of the World Cup due to injury.

The West Indies pace attack made merry at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, restricting Pakistan to a mere 105 runs to claim full points in their opening clash of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. Jason Holder and Co. won the match by 7 wickets and the island nation would be pleased with the way they have played so far. But it was remarkable that all the ten wickets were taken by their fast bowlers, which is a good sign for them ahead of the other matches because they are known to have a weaker bowling unit.

Having won the toss, the Windies skipper decided to bowl first, considering the weather. Sheldon Cottrell started off with a clinical over but it did not fetch him a wicket. But his hard work paid off in the 3rd over, when he dismissed Imam-ul-Haq with a gem of a delivery. Big man Andre Russell picked up a couple in a flash. Following that, Oshane Thomas joined the party along with captain Jason Holder, who toppled the rest of the Pakistan batting order like a house of cards.

In reply, Chris Gayle’s half century and a supporting act from Nicholas Pooran were enough to see them through. Oshane Thomas, who was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’, finished with figures of 4 for 27. Jason Holder took three wickets from his 5 overs. Andre Russell picked up a couple while Cottrell chipped in with one. This win will give them a huge boost ahead of their second clash against Australia on June 6 at the same venue. The fact that they won’t have to travel will keep them fresh.

The last time the West Indies won the World Cup was in England back in 1979 with a legendary team led by Clive Lloyd. With immense firepower in their batting line up and an improving bowling attack, they might earn themselves a shot at the title after a 40-year long wait.

World Cup 2019: ICC rejects BCCI’s plea to let MS Dhoni have the army insignia on his gloves

The International Cricket Council has turned down BCCI’s plea to let MS Dhoni keep the insignia on the gloves, instructing the board to get it removed.

In response to the ICC’s instruction to get the army insignia removed from the gloves of MS Dhoni, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had requested the ICC to let MS keep it on his gloves as it wasn’t the paramilitary regimental dagger that was embossed in his gloves.

The heart of the matter

Turning down BCCI’s appeal, the ICC has confirmed that the logo that was on the veteran keeper’s gloves was not permitted under the regulations of the council. Therefore, the BCCI will have to ask Dhoni to use a different pair of gloves in the following matches, or to cover the logo altogether.

In their plea, BCCI had sought the permission to let Dhoni keep the logo on his wicketkeeping gloves, saying that it did not resemble the paramilitary dagger. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief, Vinod Rai had also said that MS was not at fault, because it Dhoni's move was not motivated by any commercial or religious gain.

Rai told PTI, “The BCCI had already sent a formal request to the ICC for clearance. As per ICC regulations, players can’t sport any commercial, religious or military logo. There was nothing commercial or religious in this regard as we all know.”

What’s next?

BCCI will have to instruct MS to get the required changes done to his equipment before the next match on the 9th of June, wherein, India will be taking on Australia in their second match of the tournament.

During India’s World Cup encounter against Australia at The Oval, Indian skipper Virat Kohli made an appreciating gesture while he was batting in the middle. He asked the fans who were ‘booing’ Steve Smith to not do so when the Australian was stationed in the outfield.

The banned duo of David Warner and Steve Smith are making a return to the International cricket in this World Cup after a gap of one year. It was due to the ball-tampering row in March 2018 that the duo was handed a ban of 12 months by the Cricket Australia. However, the duo has received a hostile reception wherever they have travelled in this World Cup, even during their warm-up clash against England at Southampton.

During India’s batting in the first half of the game against Australia, Virat Kohli made a wonderful gesture while he was batting in the middle. It was when Steve Smith was sent to the field in the deep that he wasn’t welcomed in the most appreciable fashion by the Indian fans, who were cheering just behind him. He was booed by the Indian contingent as they shouted ‘cheater’ when Kohli asked them not to do so.


Even in the past, Kohli had expressed his feelings about how he didn’t like the reception with which Smith and Warner were welcomed after the ball-tampering saga. Even today, he insisted the fans clap and cheer for the Men in Blue rather than booing in an unsporting spirit.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: MS Dhoni Complies with ICC’s Regulations, Drops Army Insignia Badge From Wicketkeeping Gloves Against Australia

MS Dhoni wore the gloves with military dagger insignia against South Africa, which evoked mixed reactions, and the ICC requested the BCCI to ask the former skipper to get it removed.

New Delhi: India’s veteran wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Sunday decided to obey the ICC diktat as he removed the dagger insignia from his wicketkeeping gloves during the World Cup game against Australia.

Dhoni wore the gloves with military dagger insignia against South Africa, which evoked mixed reactions, and the ICC requested the BCCI to ask the former skipper to get it removed as it amounts violation of sporting equipment regulations.

Dhoni wore green coloured gloves on Sunday but both the SG logo (manufacturers) and the dagger insignia were removed, saving BCCI from an embarrassing situation.
Though it couldn’t be verified if it was same gloves or a new pair.

However, with people cutting across sections airing their views, the matter got complicated and it was learnt that the Indian team was behind their senior most player on the issue.

“You will see tomorrow,” was all Rohit Sharma said at the pre-match presser.It was learnt that an influential former BCCI President, who doesn’t exactly share a cordial relationship with the Committee of Administrators, had asked him to go ahead as the maximum penalty would have been demerit points. But CEO Rahul Johri on Saturday evening explained that after BCCI had agreed to pay heed to ICC’s rules and regulations, it wouldn’t be nice to break it.

The rule states that no personal messages are allowed on apparel or sporting gears and even Chris Gayle wasn’t allowed to use Universe Boss Logo on his bat for the same reason.
