Here's some good news for fans awaiting the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol film My Name Is Khan. The first trailer will be aired on December 16 at 10pm, that’s today.
Directed by Karan Johar with his favourite star SRK and Kajol. The film is about Razwan (SRK) who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that effects social interaction abilities.
Film is set against the 9/11 terror attacks and its impact on an Indian Muslim living in the United States. Fox Star will market and distribute the film in India while Fox Searchlight Pictures will release the film in the US on February 12.
Shah Rukh hopes the venture will catapult Bollywood films onto a global platform.
"The fact that they are recognizing a Karan Johar film as a film that they can release on an international platform genuinely for the first time in the history of Indian cinema. I think if I am not wrong, it is a great honour in itself. Hopefully, our film is good enough that it will take all of us that is you, me, Karan, the whole film industry a step forward to the next level," said Khan at an event.
My Name is Khan has been selected to show at the Berlin International Film Festival. What's more, the film has been picked for the Official Selection of the festival, which takes place from February 11-21, 2010. Karan Johar is jubilant. "It will be my first time in Berlin, and I'm so excited," he says. "Of course, I'll be going with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol! There's nothing as prestigious as presenting my film at the Berlin film festival's official selection. Even more than awards, it's getting eyeballs at such a festival - that is important."
Shahrukh did not have any release in 2009, let's hope 2010 brings something good for him.
