30th July 1922: The wedding of actress Marilyn Miller (1898 - 1936) (centre) to Jack Pickford (1896 - 1933). Guests include the American actor Douglas Fairbanks (1883 - 1939, kneels at left, Mary Pickford (1892 - 1979), the sister of the groom, Charlie Chaplin (1889 - 1977) and Mrs Pickford. Regardless of the size the part, Chaplin walked each actor through every scene. Chaplin knew that a successful scene was not simply about the star, but about everyone on the screen.

This constant attention to detail ran many features over-time and over-budget, but the public reaction assured him and the studios that what he was doing worked.
