Dunkin’ Donuts With 9,200 restaurants around the world, this chain sells 2.5 million doughnuts daily! But what many non-Americans don't know is that Dunkin' Donuts is as famous for its coffee as it is for its doughnuts. 6,500 of the restaurants are located in the US alone, which would explain all those donut-happy policemen out there! DD have interesting flavors depending on the country they're in such as the Japanese greent-tea glazed doughnuts and mochi rings; not to mention the Taiwanese pineapple glazed doughnuts! |

McDonald's You knew it was up next. After all, we doubt there's a better known--or more controversial--fast food chain in the world than this. With approximately 32,737 restaurants around the world, McDonald’s is only a small step behind Subway at the second position. Not so shockingly, the company has annual revenues of over $24 billion simply from clogging up peoples' arteries with their delicious fries and assortment of juicy burgers. This chain has also learned how to adapt to its surroundings. India's version of Mickey D's offers McAloo tikkis for all the vegetarians while Germany has a behemoth version of the double-decker called the Big Rosti. Think beef patty, hash brown patty, Emmetaler cheese and bacon on an onion flavored bun. Yes, we're drooling too. Incidentally, the largest McDonalds ever just opened in the centre of the Olympic Village in London just a little over a month ago. |

Subway Bet you didn't expect it, but Subway actually takes the number one spot on our list. Yes, even ahead of McDonalds! With approximately 33,749 restaurants around the world, it operates in innumerable nations around the world. Places like Singapore love it so much, the 300 square mile country has 79 stores within it. And then there's Germany which boasts 778 subway outlets within its borders. Today, there's even an exclusive Subway open only for New York City's Ground Zero construction workers and it is in a movable pod on top of the World Trade Center. There's no way you can afford to be that creative unless you're at the top of your game. |
