Cannes 2018: Indian Webseries ImMature; Marathi Film Idak: The Goat To Be Screened At The Cannes International Film Fest
The film depicts the journey of a man, Namya, who is determined to reach a ritual fair along with a sacrificial goat to fulfill his mother’s dream. But alas the journey is not as easy as expected. But along the way, Namya rediscovers the meaning of friendship, humanity, sacrifice, and wisdom. Apart from this film, Indian web series ImMATURE, a coming-of-age story about the first adventures in a young man’s life, has also been selected to be screened at Cannes. Considering the popularity of web series in various markets globally, the film fest has introduced a CANNESERIES and this year will mark the first edition. The webseries is not yet released in India and is made by The Viral Fever (TVF), created by Sameer Saxena of “Permanent Roommates” fame, and directed by Prem Mistry. ImMATURE is the only Indian web series at the CANNESERIES Digital — and will compete against series from the US, Canada, South Korea, France and Spain. So far, apart from Bollywood, Indian content has not been showcased globally and both this Marathi film and the webseries will pave the way for more content from other film industry and content belonging to formats other than films, to reach international audiences. |
